It will sound funny to say, but there were some things to be encouraged about. The Falcons moved the ball extremely well most of the night. Make a couple of plays earlier in the game in the red zone and you never know how the rest of the game unfolds.

They are a better team than this plain and simple...probably not a super bowl team....thought would like to be proven wrong.

That is one way to look at it. I just think Dunta should be asked to stay mostly in man coverage, and we need to run more complex blitzes when we have some of our more athletic DE's in the game. Drop more DE's and rush more safeties and LB's. I am no coach or football genius, but when I can see that a soft zone isn't working, there is a problem. I know the saints run a complex and confusing offense, but it just seems like BVG is scared to attack it for fear of being schooled, so instead opts to play it conservative and put it all on the players. I just see very few wrinkles in this defense, and what we are doing isn't working.

I still believe that whole-heartedly, and if they can lick their wounds after this game and finally get angry, coaches included, they have a chance to do something this playoffs. Maybe not the Superbowl, but the Falcons are relatively healthy, and stranger things have happened.

It's funny that you say that because every time he drops the DEs and blitzes LBs the fans rip him to shreds.

Eh, not this fan. And all I really want to see is a wrinkle or three. I don't claim to be a football guru, so I obviously don't have the answers. It is just disheartening to see the same thing over and over and the same result over and over.

I'm not a huge fan of dropping DE's into coverage or blitzes.
