RE: How Do You See the Philly Game going Down?
The Eagles sack numbers are down but there QB hits and QB pressures are still quite strong. The explanation for this is that the Eagles have blitzed much less than most teams. Some analysts have said that this is the the thing that drove Reid to change the DC in the middle of the season. If this is so, then it certainly means that we will see more blitzing by the Eagles. The thing is, Ryan does real well against the blitz and this adjustment by the Eagles may actually play into the Falcons hands.
Having said all that, the weather may preclude effective deep passing by both teams and allow both teams to play up. The downside for the Falcons is they will have trouble winning the physical battle on both sides of the ball. The upside is that long sustained drives are something that the Falcons are comfortable performing while the Eagles struggle with them since they are so mistake prone. |

I really don't know what to expect from this game, the weather looks like it's gonna be nasty. I just hope we get our running game going on Sunday.

RE: How Do You See the Philly Game going Down?
If the game goes good, I think that Asante has a great game. He'll shut down the guys that he's asked to cover. Let's keep in mind that he's practiced with these guys for years. He knows how they play, he'll know their strengths and weaknesses alike. I love that aspect of this game. I think Asante gives us an aspect of the game that we have a leg up on.
However, if I think about this practically, this is going to be an extremely tough game. The Eagles (as everyone knows) are under the direction of a new defensive coordinator and while the defensive scheme and playbook is going to be the same, I can't imagine that they won't throw new things at us defensively after the bye. Our guys have had trouble 4 of our 6 games trying to get our offense rolling in the first half. That's not good for us. If we are to win this game, we need to start right off the bat. Vick may give up a lot of turnovers, but just because they have put games in his hands the rest of the season doesn't mean they will this week. The blue-print to beat the Falcons is already there. While it hasn't cost us yet, our run defense is absolutely terrible. The Eagles have a guy who can easily be named one of, if not the best back in the league. I think he'll see the ball the most this weekend than he has all season. It's going to be a game of ups and downs, and it'll come down to our OFFENSE executing, NOT our defense.

RE: How Do You See the Philly Game going Down?
Last night I read a prediction from a pundit who said that Ryan would lead another last minute drive to put the Falcons in position to win but that this time Bryant would miss the FG attempt. That may be the single most ridiculous prediction I have seen this season other than the guy who originally predicted the Falcons would be 6-10 and, despite the 6-0 start, still thinks that 8-8 is a strong possibility. I can't believe these guys get paychecks for this blather.

RE: How Do You See the Philly Game going Down?
1999 - Week 17 - Rams - W 38-31 - Rams had already locked up the #1 seed in the playoffs and Kurt Warner didn't play the whole game.
2000 - Week 17 - Bengals - W 16-7 - Bengals finished 4-12 that year. 2001 - Week 6 - @ Giants - W 10-9 - Giants finished 7-9 that year and had a 9-3 lead until Eagles got game winning touchdown with 2 minutes left in the game. 2002 - Week 7 - Buccaneers - W 20-10 - Buccaneers went 12-4 and won the Super Bowl. Legit win. 2003 - Week 4 - @ Bills - W 23-13 - Bills finished 6-10. 2004 - Week 6 - Panthers - W 30-8 - Panthers finished 7-9 but started the season 1-7. 2005 - Week 7 - Chargers - W 20-17 - Chargers finished 9-7. Chargers were up 17-13 when the Eagles got a blocked field goal return for a touchdown with 2:25 left in the game. 2006 - Week 10 - Redskins - W 27-3 - Redskins finished 5-11. 2007 - Week 6 - @ Jets - W 16-9 - Jets finished 4-12. 2008 - Week 8 - Falcons - W 27-14 - Falcons finished 11-5. We all know what happened here. Falcons had just cut the Eagles lead to 20-14 and were about to get the ball back when the refs decided that Adam Jennings touched the ball and game the Eagles the ball back. 2009 - Week 5 - Buccaneers - W 33-14 - Buccaneers finished 3-13. 2010 - Week 9 - Colts - W 26-24 - Colts finished 10-6. Legit win. 2011 - Week 8 - Cowboys - W 34-7 - Cowboys finished 8-8. So let's recap. The Eagles have only had to play 3 road games after a bye. Teams that play a home game after a bye is at a clear advantage especially if playing a team that played the previous week. The Falcons game from 2008 was the only game that I saw that the Eagles played another team coming off their bye. Only 5 of those games were against teams that finished with a winning record and 1 of those was against a team that had nothing to play for. 13-0 is really not all that impressive when you break it down. ![]()

I can't believe these guys get paychecks for this blather. Yeah some people just need to say something I guess. Making a general prediction is one thing, Falcons win, Eagles win, fine... but this is just pure drivel and the sign of someone that is just a full on dumbass that feels like they must say something for the sake of it instead of knowing when to just shut the fuck up - trying to pretend they "watch tape" and only wish they had any kind of insight at all. It's really no different than this - "I think the Falcons will miss the opportunity to get the winning score on their 64th play, just after Justin Blaylock misses a key block when he was supposed to pull to the right and chip the defensive end but at that exact moment he had an irritating itch on the front third of his left shin which reminded him of the second Saturday of summer camp back when he was 12 causing him to really regret that french fry he forgot to eat at lunch. And if only he had eaten that fry this memory would not have surfaced, he could've made the block and Jerious Norwood could've made it into the end zone if only he was still a Falcon." |
