Guess its that time
Who should we target for FAs and Draft and who should we try and resign or franchise.

RE: Guess its that time
Pray the Ain'ts don't franchise Nicks because they have to overpay Brees.

Find the best FS you can get, resign Abe, Grimey, and rebuild the OL. Focus on D next year when you have a #1 draft pick. We have to get this offense to where it can keep up. Sorry, but the days of counting on a dominant D and a okay offense are done. It's all about outscoring folks.

That's what they've been doing though, and they've failed miserably. I hope that's just the short comings of Mularkey. And I hope he's gone.

RE: Guess its that time
Ray Edwards is simply average. Hopefully he's better next year is all I can say. I think we're set here with Edwards, Abe, Biermann, Sidbury, and Matthews though. I don't see any changes at DE happening.
Dunta Robinson is a horrible outside CB. Cut him or renegotiate his contract and move him to safety.
DeCoud is very below average, even though he lead the team in interceptions (several of which were tipped and just fell into his hands). Move him to 2nd string and replace him with Robinson. Moore, Robinson, Sanders, & DeCoud sounds like a strong safety corps to me.

Then sign a good FA CB (Carlos Rogers) after re-signing Grimes and also make some kind of trade (unload Turner is my wish) to get another 2nd round pick and draft the best CB available in the 2nd. Cut Owens and keep developing Franks, Walls, & a 2nd round rookie. Put the FA outside opposite Grimes and keep Hayden or one of the other 3 at nickel.

We're solid at DT and very solid at all LB spots. So by moving Robinson, signing a good FA CB to replace him, and drafting a CB in the 2nd, we've hopefully upgraded 2 spots and improved our depth at the same time. Other than our secondary pass coverage, I really don't have a problem with how our defense played this year. Our offense kept our defense on the field too long too many games and that played a huge part in lowering the defenses overall stats.

So we still have a 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks in this scenerio. And like I mentioned, I would love for us to trade Turner as I'm pretty certain we could get a 2nd and maybe another later round for him, which would also solve the problem I have with him forcing our offense to be predictable.

Then we draft OL with our 2nd, 3rd, and 5th rounders along with signing a top tier FA OT. Then either decide to turn Quizz into a feature back or go after someone like Ray Rice, Ryan Grant, or Mike Tolbert in FA.

I also think if we could get another 4th round pick in the Turner deal, we need to grab a decent backup QB this go around. JPW isn't a viable option and Redman has maybe 1 more year, 2 at the very most.

Then obviously we get a new OC who knows how to spread out defenses, run a real screen game, and can utilize all our weapons while re-training Ryan out of the dink n dunk mentality.

Ultimately, my hope is we trade Turner for picks, get a better OC, sign a FA OT & CB (maybe RB too), move some secondary around, fix the OL, and see what Quizz can really do.

Bold. I'm starting to climb on the board the "move on from Turner" bandwagon.

[Image: 2menybt.jpg] Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.
