Falcons: Gotta get HD the ball

I'm really confused as to what happened to Douglas. He was blowing the field up in pre-season. Then all of a sudden we get to the regular season, and he is completely invisible on the field. Is it our coaching that's not putting him on the field enough? Ryan not giving him looks? Or is Douglas just simply not getting open?

I'll take the first of the three. I have seen HD on the field almost a bare minimum. I don't know why. I wish we would run more 3WR/1TE/1RB sets. I think we could do really well with them, although it would mean Ovie seeing less field.

my honest opinion before the season was that HD was going to be one of the biggest recipients of having julio jones here. that we'd see teams doubling Roddy, or JJ or both, and it would open the middle of the field up for HD.

ok, so we game planned a decent game against philly and actually did open the middle of the field a lot, but it was TG who was the benefactor in that game. i do realize that HD had gotten his bell rung pretty good and maybe wasn't back up to snuff yet, but i'd sure like to see Matt getting him the ball. i know a couple of times the commentators sunday talked about HD being open but either being ignored or not seen by matt. really wanna see harry get more chances.

maybe matts trying to get TG to that 100 TD mark, and make sure he passes those few more that are ahead of him in the record books, who knows.

I know in Philly they didn't really want HD on the field because the Falcons wanted to keep Philly in their base defense. This kept Philly having a sub-par group or LBs on the field rather than bringing in DRC. The other games, no clue, maybe it is reads, maybe it is Ryan getting clocked all the time. Against Seattle I think it was just passing out of run sets and JJ beasting.
