It seems that TD is done in FA if Grimes accepts (considering the draftees have to get paid) unless, of course, TD can save $3M or so by extending Ryan.

I hope that Snelling's $500K cap hit does not make him a possible cap casualty as he is still valuable in my eyes for special teams and as a backup/spot player.

I don't trust a damn thing Bedwetter says.

There's only 1 way to get the Falcons to around $3.36 million under. First, you include the salary for every player (in reality only the top 51 count against the cap). That gets you to $105,411,451. Next, you add in the dead money, $11,513,432, which takes you to $116,924,883. Finally, you assume Jackson's cap hit this year will be around $2.7 million. That gets you right at $3.36 million remaining.

The problem is only the first 51 count against the cap and we also have $1.3 million in cap rollover from last season. In reality, our cap numbers look like this.

123,000,000 - (102,981,451 + 11,513,432) + 1,300,000 = 9,805,117

Granted this still doesn't include Jackson, but I think worst case he's around $2 million, probably closer to $1.75 million.

Thanks. Looking at DLed's post a little closer and I see that he projected Jackson at $3M. He says that all of his other numbers (including Baker and Gonzalez) are actual numbers, not projections. Of course I don't trust DLed to get anything right. There is a great chance he is not considering the rollover.

Sgt. Four Leaf Tayback's quote in Tropic Thunder reminds me of DLed: "I'm guessing right about now you couldn't find a Dixie coonskin with an Ohio hooker holding your prick and showing you the way."

Yeah DLed is ALWAYS freaking wrong about cap numbers.

Last year he said we were over the cap and expecting more cap casualties... and then we signed Ray Edwards... and didn't cut anyone else.

Dude is the biggest fucking moron and the worst beat writer in history. We are soooo unfortunate to have him. Every other team in the league has multiple beat writers who are at least average to great. We got ONE fricking moron.

Anyways, that guy said Grimes has some personal issues and needs to take whatever money someone is willing to give him.

In other words, he's going to go to the highest bidder because he's hard up for cash, so money is priority #1.

If your guy is legit, then I think it's even less likely we re-sign him now.

I hope Trufant is still there at 30. Or maybe David Amerson in the 2nd.

RE: Gonzo wants $7 million
As I said earlier, Tony's deal is 2 years. They did that so they could give him his $7M but not have to put it all on this year's cap. 2 years, $14M, $5.25 to this year's cap, $1.75M to next year's cap. The other $7M will just disappear when he retires before the deadline.

Yup. Some team is going to watch game film of him from a year and a half ago, fly him in and watch him stand still and jump real high, then offer him more money than we are offering, and he will take it.

I just have a feeling he will stay with the Falcons. I don't have a friend of a friend or some inside source. Just a feeling. I could definitely be wrong.
