Falcons God forbid Julio is a bust, will Dimitroff keep his job? Should he?

Had this argument with a friend a couple of days ago. If Julio doesn't work out (in whatever way you deem is a failure) will Blank fire Dimitroff? Also, if you were in charge, would you fire him? On one hand he's done more than the Julio move, but on the other he made a big gamble. If you gamble and lose, there are usually consequences. Any thoughts?

He would not be fired, a large dent in his reputation yes. When he came here this organization was the laughing stock of the NFL. What he did was remarkable. The whole totality of his work would be considered.

I don't think he would be fired.

We've gone from awful to contenders in a short period of time. Julio would have to been horrible to change that for us.

the trade isn't the whole deal, you'd have to see what kind of contract is worked. ok ok, i know, 6th pick overall, probably going to be a whopper. that said, he would have to be a JaMarcus Russell type failure for TD to feel any pressure IMO

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

I doubt it. GMs have made worse moves in the past with worse track records and kept their jobs, and some even went on to do very good.

This is a non-issue. Have you seen Julio? Nick Saban is the last person you will ever hear make a "prediction" about someone, yet even he said Julio will be special. He NEVER does that. He hasn't said anything close to that about Ingram or anyone else he's ever graduated that I'm aware of. His reputation is everything. And he doesn't put it out there unless he's absolutely certain.

There's been a bunch of 1st round receiver busts, but very very few who were picked inside the top 10 and of those, none have come close to the measurables, attitude, and personality of Julio.

This was not TD's decision alone.
The entire organization went "all in".

So hypothetically speaking, "IF" JJ
turns out to be a Bust, all of us have to
Man Up and take it on the chin.

Remember this, every freaking one of us were
screaming that WR was one of 2 positions of greatest need.

So when it comes down to it, do you go all in for a monster DE
or a player who can put 6 points on the board on any given play?

The correct answer is 6 points and TD keeps his job.

Even if Julio is widely considered a bust I still think TD keeps his gig. Agreeing with above statement, our organization went from laughing stock of the NFL with No hope to one of the best records in the NFL and two playoff games. While we have had stellar showings in either I think we are getting close. Say what you like, TD is huge part of that....

Rise Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please speak for yourself - I certainly wasn't a member of that group.

As for the '6 points on any given play' angle, I believe that was the Saints rationale for drafting Reggie Bush.
