Falcons God forbid Julio is a bust, will Dimitroff keep his job? Should he?

No way. I have a feeling Blank wanted this trade more than TD did. The more I see and hear Julio, the more I'm convinced he was one of the safest best in the entire 1st round. This kid will do what it takes. I think the combination of his work ethic, his talent, and system he played in college will have an immediate impact.

I agree with you guys, I didn't believe he would be fired just tied to this pick. TD already did a lot of good things here. My friend was trying to compare it to a new coach getting a QB who fails in the first three years. That coach is GONE. However, I told him that's apples and oranges because TD already brought good things to the Falcons.

My point exactly - that ring and the Brees signing make the Bush pick palatable.

Depends more on how the team does in the next 3 yrs, and how well Turner, Abe, Gonzales are replaced as they retire.

The one place where the Julio pick is relevant is, it makes it more difficult to replace those guys (due to lacking picks), but if TD's able to do it through FA and the more limited pick selection, then what happens with Julio won't be a huge thing.

As for the '6 points on any given play' angle, I believe that was the Saints rationale for drafting Reggie Bush.

Reggie Bush wasn't a conventional player...Julio is...it's not like we're drafting a WR to throw the ball, much like the Saints drafted a WR to play HB

He NEVER does that. He hasn't said anything close to that about Ingram or anyone else he's ever graduated that I'm aware of. His reputation is everything. And he doesn't put it out there unless he's absolutely certain.

There's been a bunch of 1st round receiver busts, but very very few who were picked inside the top 10 and of those, none have come close to the measurables, attitude, and personality of Julio.

In order to play for Saban you have to work your tail off. He doesn't accept half ass laziness.

Julio won't bust. He's to big to bust.

Are you sure about that? Didn't he have two lineman that were lazy as hell? Terrence Cody and Andre Smith?

Actually Saban made Cody get and stay under a certain weight if he wanted to play and Smith stayed in shape throughout college.

Oh ok. So once they got to the NFL they slacked off.

It's unfortunate that they slacked off. Saban prepared them for the NFL, but they ignored his teaching. By all accounts, Julio really learned from Saban.
