Game, Set, Match....Falcons have 1 problem - Offensive Line
While it has always been thought that the greatest weakness of the Falcons was the pass-rush or the secondary.......it is obvious through 3 games the problems begin and end at the offensive line.

If something is not done soon, Chris Redman will be our starting QB by week#7. The Falcons defense played "good enough" Sunday on the road. Josh Freeman was very pedestrian and yet the Falcons did not compete until the 4th quarter due to Falcons offensive line.

Everyone says "go to the hurry-up offense" and Falcons did, should and will but its sad to think this is the only way our offensive line can compete.

We have to go with the garbage we have on the O-Line this year but I don't know how a playoff team can have such a serious flaw. Falcons cannot go to the playoffs unless they clean up this O-Line thing - and in a hurry. Given that the O-Line has been a problem the first three games and no adjustments have been made does not give me confidence that we are going to get this corrected.

Falcons "babied" Matt Ryan along his first three years with conservative play calls and I always thought it was just being superconservative and "run, run, run" mentality of MM. Maybe it was just they wanted to hide the superbad o-line play on pass blocking.

either way, Falcons are screwed unless the pass-blocking dramatically improves - what do you think the blitz-happy Saints defense and the blitz-happy Packers are going to do to the Falcons O-Line and Matt Ryan? HINT: it won't be pretty.

The one saving grace is that I would rather (and, more to the point, I believe Ryan would rather) face the blitz that consistent front four pressure. At least with a blitz you know where the uncovered man is, and Ryan is good at getting rid of the football and beating the blitz.

But you're right -- teams will figure it out and quit blitzing, and that is a nightmare scenario for us. Get pressure on our crappy o-line with the front four and maybe a LB blitz or two, and knock Ryan out of the game. That's the gameplan to beat us until we figure out how to fix the problem.

G-Dawg, You have hit it dead center. In order to take advantage of the talent we have at RB, QB and WR, we need a strong interior run-blocking OL and a reasonably decent pair of OT's. Otherwise, MM will be forced to Put Svitek and Kelly on the line and go with max protect. That will leave Ryan with only two passing targets and an outlet out of the back field. Talk about predictability!

Not drafting a developmental OT is killing this offense.

I'm still blowing fumes that not only did Dahl sign only a 4yr, 16m contract with the Rams, but the fucking FO didn't think to give Jared Gaither a look when he got a freaking 1 yr, 700k contract from the Chiefs.

Steelers probably already called him today, after last night's game they had one healthy tackle on the roster.

I'm beginning to worry the Browns will have two top ten 1st round picks next April... or even better?

I really don't see us finishing below .500. Even with the bad offensive line, we have WAY too much talent for that.

I don't either, but anything below 10 wins is a failed season imo.

9 wins, a wild card, and Super Bowl win would be a failed season for you?

Look at Mr "High Expectations" up there in his loft! Tongue
