Now this is something I totally agree with. Ryan took blame for that interception but I'm convinced that he expected Julio to cut in front of the defender and that would have been a touchdown. We must remember that Julio is still very young and he is still seeing defenses and coverage that he's never seen before. ![]()

Again remember his learning curve is a bit off because of last year. There seemed to be a skewed focus on play rather than education for him. He is soaking it up this year. For me I notice the things he does both wrong and right. And whilst I pointed out that missed TD play. I can say on that wasted 30 trader he reeled in he made a veteran move. You could see where he's been watching tony he ran sat up in the zone. Felt it out knew what it was and worked to the soft spot. All very fluidly you could see that that was was him understanding the option rather than a play design. Remember as well it's the first year he is playing in an offense that allows him to run options in the NFL. And whilst he does understand zones sometimes the recognition isn't fonna be great. It's exciting for me because Julio as a young player is everything Roddy wasn't. And look how damn scary Roddy is these days. With a mentor like Roddy as far as the game is concerned. Julio is gonna be tough for the next decade at the least. |

As for his hand it did have an impact Week 4 Quote:Julio Jones - WR - Falcons

Well it's hard to argue with Dirk Koetter, since he knows more than I do, but I don't understand how the Panthers playing perfect defense against Julio was because of his hand.

RE: From what i've known from Julio's hand
Only way I can look at it is. We would usually see short and intermediate over the middle throws to Julio that get him moving on to the ball. Problem is that they probably feared that Julio would take a shot on the hand like the one Weddle delivered.
Who knows really, but the fact is he is still out there and still causing problems for defense. If he had made that sideline grab heads would be talking about his toughness in adversity. As it is they start the injury prone talk because a couple of millimetres made the difference. I also think knowing our team with injuries. That this is not all that serious anymore because you practically just told teams how to game plan to keep Julio out of the game or alternatively and what I would as a DC anyway. Try and take the game away from Atlanta by trying to take away Roddy and forcing Matt to go to Julio. I think if Washington did this though, they'll be sorry. |

RE: From what i've known from Julio's hand
On the 2nd play of the game we tried a screen to Julio and the pass got knocked down by Charles Johnson because he read the play and didn't rush so Clabo couldn't cut him to get his hands down.

That play wasnt a screen to Julio, it was intended for Roddy White

RE: From what i've known from Julio's hand
Archer was talking on 790 a couple days back and said Julio's hand is really bad. The webbing between his middle finger and ring finger actually "ripped" about 3/4th's of an inch into his palm.
I can't imagine how bad that freaking hurts. His hand must be throbbing like a mutha F'er and I bet a 60 mph pass from a football impacting it feels like a sledge hammer. It's going to take more than a week or two to heal and stop hurting from something like this. He's essentially a decoy for a few weeks, IMO. |

RE: From what i've known from Julio's hand
I still can't believe it's as bad as that after him coming out and making catches against san Diego. I believe he is injured but I think we are down playing how effective he still can be. He caught a TD after that injury. I think what is gonna be missing for a while is Julio going over the middle and intk places where he can get run on to when being hit. I think we will see him working the perimeter and outermost seams for a while. But I don't think he is out of it completely. This FO does not like to risk players so I can't see why he would be out there as a Decoy. Fact is they targeted him into tight zones where when he was healthy he would have gone in and won the ball. The volume was still there. What needs to happen is we find ways of jail breaking him into space where is catches are easier and carry less risk of the hand being attacked.
I also think whilst his hand is injured the amount of liberal information being flung around about it is a bit suspicious for an organisation that is notoriously tight lipped. |
