RE: Fluky Win
Houston almost tanked to Jags in OT. I'd much rather take this fluke game where every ball bounced weird, and our D still dominated the opponent!

RE: Fluky Win
Consider this....6 turnover most gave the Cardinals a short field.
1st Int - They start at the ATL 9 and get a TD on a run 2nd Int - They start at their ARI 26....Punt 3rd Int - They start at ATL 18 and get a FG Fumble - combined with penalty (huge BS imho) and get it on ARI 41 they ultimately punt 4th Int - They get the ball at the ATL 16 and get a FG 5th INT - They get ball at ATL 32 and get Zilch Points off turnovers - 13 Their Offense QBs got a total combines yards of 41 passing Their Rushing Howling had 127 yards on 22 carries (1 for 40 and 1 for 54 - neither scored he was chased down) - so let's see take those 2 bad tackle away and howling got 20 carries for 35 yards (and 1 was for 7 yards! so call it 19 for 28 - meaning most of his runs were for a little over a yard!!!) Our Defense played well overall with 2 hiccups (long runs) - our tackling was better but we still see if they don't get them on that first hit the amoeba defense has holes at the second level..... Offensely (Ariz has a top rated defense....and they were man handling our O-line....it will happen from time to time) Grand total 1 sack! (of course you could say a lot of disruption that lead to Ints.......) - truth is tipped balls happen but our happen all in the same game(at least I hope this is the case) Our running game yielded averages of 3.1 and 3.2 yards.....that is almost where it should be to get first downs.....passing Ryan still had 301 yards....his accuracy was off as his completion percentage was slightly over 60% with 0 TDs (that is the second game this has happen.....I mean no passing TD) Tons of hopefully minor injuries....maybe a semi serious one with Asante (hoping it is nothing )So we won 23 - 19 (where 13 of those points were off turnovers deep in our territory - most of them) Honestly as bad as this game was for turnovers.....we actually played pretty well against a tough defense (at the start of the year in the first few weeks they were saying Arizone a had one of the tougher defenses especially their secondary and Linebackers......they are 5th in passing defense (we got 301) and 21st in run (but we didn't run a whole lot only about a third of our plays were runs....) hell Stephen Jackson only got 76 yards against these guys..... There are definitely positive things about this game.....we fought hard and overcame some lousy turnovers......that usually don't happen often with us.....hopefully we got those out of our system..... the best part is we know we escaped with a W....meaning we will work twice as hard knowing the Bucs are next up.... I look at this next game as a No lose situation.....if we win....then we gain ground on the division title....but if and this is a big IF we somehow lose to TB then that starts putting New Orleans in a really tough spot trying to get Wild card....... We are not going to lose....I think we have our A game against the bucks and with any luck we bring it back to ATL for NO on Thursday night.....The second piece of good news is the NO saints will be dealing with the 49ers......I am hoping the 49ers tear them up with Frank Gore....... Sorry...about the long post....just thought I would clarify some positives...no reason to panic....we are still in good shape....let's make the mistakes now where we can recover from them....... |

RE: Fluky Win
Sorry to say this man, but that was some serious homer loving.
I pulled 2 real bright spots from this game : Rodgers & McClain are balling. |

RE: Fluky Win
Quote:Remember this... we've watched Peyton Manning against Atlanta throw 3 INT's and lose. We've watched Tom Brady against the same Cardinal team have a bad day and lose. What this says about the Atlanta Falcons is, their QB can have a bad day and they can still win those football games. That's what I saw from the Atlanta Falcons... 5 INT's, no TD's and you find a way to win the football game when your most important player doesn't play well. That just doesn't happen in the NFL.-- Marshall Faulk

Fluky Win
Yes, in fact the host asked "Do you still believe in the Atlanta Falcons". Faulk, Deion and Michael Irvin all answered Yes without hesitation and without mincing words. Was an odd feeling lol.

RE: Fluky Win
Yea, that's one hell of a quote really. He summed up what cannot be explained other than a team with a will to win... won.
We have had some ugly wins. We have played sub par teams. We lost to our main rival. We have no running game. We are starting to suffer injuries. Our Oline is becoming exposed. Our coaches have made some bad decisions lately. We are 9 and 1. We are #1 in the NFC. We are going to win at least half the remaining games on our schedule. We are going to be in the playoffs. The only thing we have to focus on is the post season. We are going to have our opportunity to get these media monkeys off our backs. What we do in that first playoff game will dictate whether or not we are going to be a team that will force our will to win games, or be a team that will look good on paper and never accomplish anything special. This is our year.
