Just heard on the radio that the Falcons announced this. Perfectly fine with it. Will still should DEFINITELY go after someone like Soliai, because our defensive line, running a 4-3 or 3-4, is too damn small regardless.

Robert Mathis and Paul Soliai would be a dream free agency for me.

plus resigning Abe for a year or 2 of 6 mil a year will make our dline stout. getting back lofton will keep the LBs strong and CBs gotta duke it out

Figured as much. We are such a pure 4-3 team that guys like Weatherspoon, Abraham, and Babineaux would be thrown way out of their comfort zone. It just wouldn't work for us.

Yeah, I really don't care all that much, 3-4, 4-3, 11-0 whatever, it's much more important to me that we now have a smart guy, who's also a teacher, who has shown creativity and has shown the ability to get his players to play for him.

If Nolan can take our defense to the next level (and lets face it how could he not do better than BVG) I think this will actually have quite the positive effect for our offense as well.

I just don't see us re-signing Abraham, regardless of what we run, nor do I think we should.

The guy has routinely flaked out in big games and sometimes I forget that he's even on the team. Every now and then he'll bust out a 3 sack game against a 3rd string QB or something and he's certainly not getting younger in the next few years. Maybe a 1 year contract okay, but I doubt that happens.

We already did the whole "Okay you're old, here's ONE more contract" thing with Gonzalez, I can't see us doing it with Abe too.

We could always regress... our defense was hardly bad.

New DC = new playbook and new jargon to learn. None of these guys in our defense are rocket scientists, so learning something new isn't an easy instantaneous thing. There will likely be a few growing pains on both sides of the ball in 2012.

Sure we could, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some growing pains in the first year especially, but overall I think we are going to be in much better shape. In my opinion Nolan is several levels above BVG, given equal talent I would bet Nolan every time.

You have the 3-4, 4-3, and 46 Hybrid attacks (somtimes called the multi) Since we have conventional DE's in our unit, you can also now place LB's on the line in three point stance or two point. Either way it will create a nasty mismatch.

I have the feeling we will have a top ten defense.

I am actually pretty excited to see some of that 3-4 Hybrid. I always thought Bierman was better suited to play outside LB in a 3-4 and he should be pretty cheap to retain this offseason.... JA55 may be on his way out however, although I would not mind seeing him back at the right price....

Rise Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
