Falcons vow to be in new stadium by 2017
I don't think most fans on the message boards want it downtown anyways. I was really hoping for the Doraville site, but that didn't work out. The current location is far from family friendly. Tailgating sucks. The dome isn't full on kickoff because you have to leave the tailgate 45 minutes before kickoff to walk forever. And you leave your car in some busted up, half gravel, half fenced in parking lot. Not shady at all. Can't even see the Dome from a lot of tailgating spots. It is not like the access is great now. Getting to some of the really close parking lots for people who don't go to the game much requires a secret decoder ring. You think the road takes you to the parking lot until you realize you are driving "over" the parking lot and in reality you have to make like 6 turns down one way streets to get where you want to be.

As a visitor to Atlanta, with my kids, for game day, I was hoping for a suburbs site with tons of parking and tailgating. I still pray they find a way to make that happen.
If they could fix the parking and add to the fan experience, the new stadium is a great idea. If they don't, why spend so much money for nothing of value gained? Formerly SBC Falcon

Why the fuck do you deserve money from this project to fix up your neighborhood? How about you create a freaking neighborhood association and pay for thie shit yourself like everybody else does? I live in a 1500 home neighborhood and pay $1000 a year in dues and our landscaping and sidewalks look tremendous along with our clubhouse and pools. spot on! I did a double take myself when I came to the part about local neighborhoods demanding handouts. Would much prefer the stadium to be in the burbs. No sense in building a billion dollar stadium in a shithole with little parking and terrible transportation. Move that bitch to the burbs and surround it with parking. |

RE: Falcons vow to be in new stadium by 2017
Beef was dead on but missed one important and key fact.
These dead beats in houses next to the current dome, lease out their yards for parking at $20 a pop. With 10 cars in each yard, they get $200 every Sunday for not doing a damn thing. I couldn't find parking anywhere once and ended up paying to park in this guys yard. Guy flashed his gun and said to make sure I pay. I gave him $20 and sang a quick song with big mama (400 lbs of goodness) and went on my way. Learned, take Marta. Same issues with Turner Field on a full house night. Broke ass people controlling parking lots they don't own to make a buck. You've been given a handout. You didn't/haven't done anything with it because it's easy money. LIFE ISN'T EASY. Work hard, try and get somewhere in life, and help others along the way. That's all we should be looking to do. I hope they move the new stadium to a rich as hell kinda place that is surrounded by HOA's.
