I just think the Falcons were stupid not to lock him up before the 2010 season or at the very latest during the 2010 season, the way the Packers did with Tramon Williams. ok it's already been said by a couple, but his vertical is really his only asset. he messed up a knee. this sounds like the same thing edwards went through before he came here, and we all saw what that did to his play. at least for now, that's what i'm blaming it on. that last NO game proved that that if grimes don't have his usual 'ups' he can't cover. and i know we all saw him miss some INT's this season that we've grown used to him making. in a contract year..... this could turn out to be a snelling type thing all over. maybe he'll let his wife price him so high even HE couldn't jump up there to grab it, and no one will want to pay him what he thinks he's worth. at least not until everyone's sure he's over that knee 100%. i like grimes, absolutely awesome to see how he could get up off the ground. but take that ability away from him, he's probably not even considered for the NFL Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: Falcons to let Grimes walk?
The one thing that helps the Falcons here is that there are a number of quality CB free agents. That will drive all of their prices down a bit.

RE: Falcons to let Grimes walk?
One thing that cracks me up......people assuming that his knee was well enough to play a month after surgery........and then assuming that his knee is too torn up for it to be worth it to resign him.
Just wierd to me. Dunta Robinson had a knee injury that kep him out for a year and a half. We gave that guy 10 mil a year. |

Dunta played after that injury. People could at least see he got back on the field. Not justifying it. But I think to resign Grimes the Fslcons want some kind of protection where they can can him and not suffer financially. He or she may not take to kindly to this and I can understand why. It is indeed a shit shit situation. |

RE: Falcons to let Grimes walk?
It would be interesting to know if the Falcons did try to re-sign Grimes before or during the 2010 season. I think there are two possibilities: They did, but at a number he wasn't impressed with. Or they didn't because they either still weren't convinced that he was the real deal (which would be hard to understand) or they felt they couldn't because of the amount of money it would have tied up at the CB position.
I lean toward that last explanation, mostly because we never heard anything about an offer or negotiations. The Falcons play their cards pretty close, but Miko Grimes sure doesn't. Long term fallout from the Robinson contract. |

They did negotiate from what I recall but to no avail. Seriously how did we not figure out Sportsfreak was Miko sooner. I had suspicions when once I knew who she was, but it's stuff like the photo of the depth chart showing Grimes at the top. It makes sense. And since we rattled her that day she hasn't been active here. |

RE: Falcons to let Grimes walk?
I will have to look at the whole of work by our front office before passing judgement. We might lose Grimes and other personel, but I would also like to see who is brought in to replace them.... I would not personally like to see Grimes leave, but if his knee has pretty significant damage I would prefer to not overpay him.... I also was not a fan of him sitting out the Giants game.....

Of course we will likely never know but the staff does. If he was medically cleared to play and chose not to play in a playoff game or even try then I wouldn't resign him especially for big money. Prima donnas are not exactly what we need on the defensive side of the ball and that is pussing out on your teammates in the biggest way. If that's not the case I'm sure they would want him back and would probably come down to a financial decision. |
