You are right. Another former team Capt. He has that leadership mentality where even though he doesn't need to be a leader. He is going to step up do his part and give his best effort because that's what those type of guys are like. He is very much like Lofton in that regard. Leading by example. I'd still like Lofton back but something makes me feel that we need a player with greater range and ability and agility. The notre dame ILB coming out next year. I think he would be a great selection 6 '3 so he has height 250 so he has a dense frame. Athletic can pass cover but needs to get better he plays well sideline to sideline and he is a LB with a high football IQ capable of making calls and shifts out on the field.

The number two prospect is Tom Wort. 6ft 224 lbs. I'm unconvinced by his chances. He is British only been playing football about 6years or so. The media in the UK are lapping his story up. And it has put a sour taste in the actual BAFL because we have far better home grown products who are now going to college in the US but they earned their scholarships here. Attracted the attention overseas. Kids carrying at 18 better measurables than Wort does now. Just don't see him projecting as an LB in the NFL.

You guys should look out for Elliot Hoyte he was given a full scholarship by Boise State to play DEnd. He finished school in England early so he could head on out to join for practice. He is one of my products.

Mixed feelings about this. An excerpt from PFF...

Quote:Lofa Tatupu will want to forget his play in 2010. His -8.9 grading was the result of poor play in coverage (-6.7) and when rushing the QB (-4.3)... Tatupu also missed a division leading 14 tackles. His 7 pass defenses were, which led the division, was one highlight. In his first year back from injury, Tatupu’s performance was not what it had been in previous seasons...

He has played well at one time, but his most recent play is a CLEAR downgrade from Lofton. The question is whether or not we get the shit 2010 version or the quality Tatupu from prior years.

I think the reality is we will see a combo of both. Remember how when we got Pete he was sharp and fresh flying around. And as the season wore on he became less visible. I could see that happening to Lofa. But hopefully at the same time. Like what happened with Spoon and Nic. Between this year and the next whoever the linebackers in depth behind him. Both learn from and surpass him.

However with him being a little younger than Pete he may be ok out there. I think of we lose Lofton we have the guys in place to make his loss a lesser issue, until a better replacement ( by that I mean equal to Lofton in run stopping and superior in pass defense emerges.

I think he'll probably be a replacement for Pete rather than a full time MLB starter. At least, that's what I am hoping.

D-Block will be a little different this year.

Seems like a nice price to bring him in for. Lofton would have wanted more.
