Falcons interested in LB Paul Kruger
I don't think much of this source, but here is the rumor. (Skip past the Steve Jackson stuff. I really don't think that TD is going there.)

All this concern about the pass rush and not a single word about this rumor. Get with it guys. The 3/4 is coming and so Weatherspoon and some other LB will be ones expected to provide most of the pass rush (along with a lot of CB/S blitz thrown in as well.)

Between Baker Ryan and possibly TG there will be nothing left for a stud FA. Looks like our run game and pass rush need to come from the draft.

How many times does it have to be explained that doing a new contract for Ryan will actually free up cap space? Flacco got $120M over 6, but his cap hit this year is only $5.9M.

Matt is a $12M cap hit this year. With a new contract we would certainly lower that down in the $8M range or even better.

We were $21M under the cap before Moore and Reynolds. After them we're about $16M under the cap, and after Ryan's new contract we'll likely be back up to $20M. That's plenty to get TG, Baker, Grimes, and an FA.

no guarantees that the Falcons extend him this year, but if they do it is going to have to happen within the next few days (and probably already should have happened) for it to be of any real benefit. I have a feeling they are going to let him play out his rookie contract.

Im not quite understanding it. Yea its possible they havent agreed to terms, but his status can only stay the same or get worst for the cap if we let him play out.

If we dont make the playoff then it lowers his contract.

If we do make the playoffs then its the same, but may increase slightly because of inflation

If we win the SB then his contract will increase.

If possible, we should have been had this done to free up space and because its the best scenario to extend him right now. Maybe they are waiting for the whole Flacco contract to die down, but I thought a SB MVP and winning contract helped more than hurt.

Jay Glazer said on the pregame show before the Niners game that Ryan was going to get a new deal this year.
