We're either going to have to rework some more contracts or cut some players. We only had around 1.7 mil available before this, and even with the restructure, I'm guessing we're well over the number.

So what if we are over the cap?
It will be all worked out bit if not, its not like the NFL has ever penalized a team for it.

In theory TD has 7 days to cure any cap overages. Expect some quick cuts and/or restructures after the draft.

I know it seems like the Falcons are tying up a lot of money in CBs, but remember that we are deemphasizing linebacking and so need proportionally less salary there. Also the cap will expand in the coming years and so TD will still have room to operate. It is not like he has put himself into a prolonged straight jacket.

Cris Carter just sounded like the biggest idiot on NFL Live.

He said he didn't like the move, but couldn't really explain why. Then he went on to say Dunta was our best CB, and he has no idea why Grimes got a $10 mil tender because he's never seen him do anything to show he's that good of a CB. This is not the kind of guy who should be on a nationally televised show spouting such non sense like that. If you're going to get paid to do a job, do it fucking right!

D.Led just said we only gave up a 7th rounder. If true that's amazing.

EDIT: Jason La Canfora just confirmed it. Holy crap that's a steal.

I like guy but it's so freakin obvious that he has some disdain for the Falcons bc we fuxed up the only sure thing he had to getting to the Super Bowl.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Falcons have agreed to terms with CB Asante Samuel on a three-year, $18.5 million contract.
The trade is all but complete. Samuel's old deal had $21.3 million over two years remaining in base salary alone, so he's accepting a sizable pay cut from that contract. The Falcons are expected to throw a late-round pick Philly's way.
