The Texans passing offense is ranked below Atlanta's for the season. Upon further investigation, Schaub's loss may not have as much impact as I first thought.

part of their running game's success has been the threat of the pass...they are essentially Carolina in 09 if Leinart plays like he's done in the past.

Once again, you know y'all have my respect, but I have never, ever heard from y'all that you got beat by the Saints. It's always that you lost it.

To be perfectly honest, I have never heard from your side that you got beaten by the Falcons either. It's always that you lost it.

Both sides make excuses after a close loss to a rival.

"TOUCHDOWN! MY GOD, A TOUCHDOWN! WE THREW IT TO HAYNES! WE JUST STUFFED THEM WITH FIVE SECONDS LEFT! MY GOD ALMIGHTY, DID YOU SEE WHAT HE DID? DAVID GREENE JUST STRAIGHTENED UP AND WE SNUCK THE FULLBACK OVER! … WE JUST STEPPED ON THEIR FACE WITH A HOBNAILED BOOT AND BROKE THEIR NOSE! WE JUST CRUSHED THEIR FACE!" - Larry Munson broadcast UGA vs Tenn, 2001

Rest In Peace, Larry. You will be missed.

This doesn't make 1 bit of a difference. No one runs on us, period. That's not going to change and Schaub wasn't going to make a difference either. We've got that game, and honestly we handed the taints this last game, I fully expect a win when we go to New Orleans, the dropped TD by Roddy cost us the game, we played like trash all day and we were still the better team on Sunday.

The Saints are literally a gimmick offense without a defense, not impressed.

Just as you fully expected a win this past week. The fact is that playing like trash is not a positive trait, regardless how much you wish it was. Teams that play like trash have a tendency to lose. The Falcons did not handle the Saints this last game. If they had handled the Saints they would have won. Another fact is that there is no need to run on the Falcons when you can outscore them with the pass alone.

The better team on any given Sunday (Monday or Thursday) in the NFL is the one that has the greater number of points on the board at the end of the game.

And that gimmick offense has handed the Falcons their 9th defeat at its hands in the past 11 meetings, including five of six in Atlanta. That gimmick offense is sitting at 7-3 atop the division with a very legitimate shot of getting the #2 seed in the NFC. That gimmick offense has managed to win more games (56) since 2006 than any other team in the NFC other than Green Bay (58). That gimmick offense has also won an NFL Championship.

Thank you very much. I am quite pleased with that gimmick offense.

We've lost to backup QBs before so I'm not going to get overly excited and count that Texans game as a W just yet. They've still got an improved D and great skill players.

Exactly! I've never heard any Saints fans say the Falcons just beat them...it's always what they didn't do. Pot...kettle...all that good stuff.

Maybe you are right. But, I think I would be getting even more worried as a Falcons fan if I truly believed that the Falcons gave the Saints those 9 wins in the last 11 played. I would rather my team get beat than always blowing it for a loss.

Honestly, if the Saints want to pump their chests out over wins in '06 and '07 then by all means go right ahead. Kind of meaningless though if you ask me. That's like us talking about wins in '05 and '04 when Haslett was your coach and Brooks was the QB. The reality is since '08 it's been pretty even. You guys swept 2 years ago when you faced Redman and Snelling and you won the 1st game this year...they've hardly been dominant against Smitty and Co.

It's human nature on close games. If you gave it away, it means if you clean up 2 or 3 things, next time you will WIN. If, however, the other team just beat you...there's no particular easy solution to next time.

That's why the GB playoff game was so hard for Falcon's fans. There wasn't a simple...hey, if we just didn't have that drop, we would've won...no clear path to a fix on that.

The Saints and Falcons games are so close that, frankly, I'm surprised the Saints have won 9 of 11 (though I separate out since Smith/Ryan/etc came, since before that was a radically different team. I'm guessing it's 5 of 7 or something since then.) Given that it's usually a 3 point game, you'd think we'd split them. It's a tough rivalry and each team has a few things they left on the field each time that could have made it a much different game.
