RE: Falcons Expected To Have New Stadium Deal In Place By Dec. 31st
I've never even used the parking lots near the dome, they always looked shady as hell. I usually end up parking at one of the MARTA stations and riding the train in, but this means no tailgating or anything. It really is one of the most annoying things about going to a game at the GA Dome.

Like your avatar said' Fuck yea!

i do the samething! After a horrible experince with finding parking lot in the first pre-season game at the dome, i never drove down there again. The surrounding area is ghetto, the environment is very unpleasant, and because of paying 20-30 bucks to park in a ugly ass-ghetto looking parking space or in front of someone's house makes the whole game unenjoyable.

If anything, the dome is the exact opposite of what Blank, TD and the front office been trying to advertise about the team. Sayin' that how we going to be the Patriots of the south, or we are a classy organization then put the dome in that area... smh

The Dome was built for the Olympics right?
Olympic venues are never built with parking in mind. They don't want people driving to events.
You have to imagine the billion dollars is going to more than just giant video screens like in Dallas. I would bet if the city and state are behind it they are planning to build up the area around it and adding adequate parking. Of course they will still encourage mass transit, cause they make money there too. But we are in a post Camden Yards world where stadiums are built to expand on the experience of watching the sport but also creating an all encompassing experience. This also means trying something new with the area. They did that in Seattle with the Seahawks stadium and in Ford Field in Detroit.

I truly wish they would have picked a safer sight up north away from the ghetto and downtown. I live south of Atlanta in Columbus and I would gladly drive further up north for games if it meant avoiding the ghetto and parking nightmare that the Georgia Dome currently is.

Construction on the Georgia Dome began in 1989, well before any Olympic stuff.

Did they say if this was going to be an open air stadium with a retractable roof or another lousy dome?

Damn, I wanted to say something there but didn't want to carry the friendly game week smack too far. Although, it was still quite innocent.

So that would be a retractable statement then.
