RE: Edwards On Track For Week One
This is great news. Hopefully he's on the field for week one without a doubt. Hopefully we get to see him run at least a few snaps in a pre-season game just to get his timing down and what-not.
And for those that want to say we over-payed for a defensive end that benefited from having Jared Allen on the opposite side of him, well let's take a look at these stats because I haven't seen anyone mention this at all, Sacks John Abraham: 2007: 10 2008: 16.5 (Led All DE) 2009: 5.5 2010: 14.5 (Led All DE) Jared Allen: 2007: 15.5 2008: 14.5 2009: 14.5 2010: 11 So, yes, Allen is definitely more of a consistent threat. But lets remember in 2007 did we even have a defensive line? I mean, other than Abe, we had Anderson, Babs (Before he became a beast) and Gravy Jackson. So really, we had no one but Abe. That's impressive because you know for a fact he was always drawing the most attention. In 2009, he had his major neck issues going on. But he still produced. So, all I'm saying, is yeah of course Edwards probably benefited from Allen, but he's probably going to benefit just as much from Abraham. Because unlike the media, opposing teams will not skip over Abe. The media completely ignores Abe, I have no clue why, the guy is just as dominant as Allen IMO. I know that wasn't brought up in this thread, but I had seen it in several other threads about Edwards, and just thought this was a fine place to make the point. Can't wait to get the guy on the field. Our line will be doing work this season once he's out there.

RE: Edwards On Track For Week One
People forget that Allen plays in a division with HORRIBLE offensive lines. I think it was last year or 09, he picked up 7.5 sacks from the Packers alone. With us, Abraham he beats up on guys like Joe Thomas and Jake Long.
