Falcons: Early impression of the debacle

ONCE AGAIN: The game is won and LOST in the trenches.

Our interior OL was completely dominated. Because of that, we could not convert downs. We could not sustain drives and we did not score. There is no point talking about schemes, play calling or urgency. We lost because our OL is lousy.

I was very happy with our defense. I thought they played very well and gave the ball to Matty often. Unfortunately, they were on the field too often and fatigue made them worse and worse, as the game wore on. The loss of Grimes and Moore hurt, but our offense hurt us the most.

Looking forward:

Dimitroff had better build an OL in a hurry. He needs to start along the interior. I would not trust the development of his draft choices. This is the primary need.


I don't want to write too much this early. The wound is too fresh.

Defense was fine and did the best they could for as long as they could, the O-line needs a serious overhaul and we need MM gone. Even then it is going to be tough to get in the GB, NO,NE class. We need to sign at least TWO BIG DEAL FA o-linemen, with our skill player screen plays should be implemented during the first off season practice. Every other team uses this to help the oline out.

Listening to Matt Ryan in a post game interview is pissing me off. I'd like to hear some anger. I remember Marino after a loss. There was no doubt that he was going to change matters. Ryan....not so much.

It's probably tough to show anger when you are in shock. Plus Matt is and will always be a class act. I'm sure he's angry inside and thoroughly pissed off but he isn't going to let that spill over into the media ever. Just because he doesn't show it to a bunch of guys with a mic in his face doesn't mean he isn't feeling it. Why do fans and people expect celebrities and athletes to live their lives and emotions through the media, because it will make us feel better, or because it's what we want to see?

not going to write a lot right now. hopefully this doesn't deter Jax or Miami from wanting MM. Defense played lights out the first half, but leave them on the field that long and eventually they will get tired. but when you have all the weapons we have, and yet can not in a whole game score ANY offensive points. just sad.

i expect to see coach smith roll some heads, coaches and players. and as said, if we don't get a freaking OLINE....
