I hear ya, but I can tell you if you like Turner you would've been foaming at the mouth at William Andrews. I only wish his career hadn't been cut short and that there's not much film on him. He was one of the fiercest runners I've ever seen. My favorite player of all time and it's not even close. He was the type of runner that would be in the open field looking for guys to run over on the way to the end zone. He was a complete back. Ronny Lott said it was the hardest hit that he had received during his NFL career, "I ran 10 yards straight at him, as hard as I could. He didn’t see me. The whole time I was saying to myself, This is it! Then, boom. I slid off of him like butter. I hit the ground, and he didn’t go down. I was thinking, What?" If not for the injury I think he would've been HOF. In his 5 seasons before the injury: Four 1000-yard seasons. No seasons under 4.0 yards per carry. Three seasons with at least 50 receptions. Four seasons with at least 270 touches. Four seasons where he was among the top four backs in total yards from scrimmage. Four consecutive Pro Bowl selections. Three years as first or second team All-NFL. No games missed prior to the knee surgery in 1984. Andrews was the second back in NFL history to gain 2000 combined yards rushing and receiving. Moreover he did it twice in his career: 2036 yards and 12 scores in 1981 and 2176 yards and 11 scores in 1983. In fact, in 1983 his 1,567 rushing yards and 609 receiving yards were 39 percent of the Falcons’ total offense. Interestingly, when looking up these numbers, I saw a lot of comments from fans all across the nation saying basically the same thing, so I know it's not Falcon bias ![]() Someone put together a "Case for Canton" on him: http://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2011/09/04/a-c...m-andrews/ I'd vote for him

Should go back and read Packers fans comments when they hired him, they said he's a capable coach... at maybe Temple. They also called him the most incompetent offensive doofus in football. Kind of funny, the reactions of the fans. Who cares Mike Mccarthy was an exception to the rule. That is like pointing out that Brady was a 6th round pick, so teams should look for a franchise QB in the 6th round and hope they find another rare exception to the rule. Koetter is a failure in my mind until he shows me something different. There is nothing he can do in the regular season to impress me. The only way I will respect him if we can win some playoff games. |

He was the type of runner that would be in the open field looking for guys to run over on the way to the end zone. He was a complete back. I actually had seen some film on him back in my early Falcons days. A friend of the family hooked me up one summer cause I was complaining that we never get any Christian Okoye or Ottis Anderson type backs and there it was. I nearly went to tears watching him. Barreling over guys and juking like it wasn't difficult. Catches, runs, blocks. A nightmare. So when we got Heyward I was excited, then Anderson, then Duckett, the Turner. I'm hooked on powerbacks man. That's why I like Rodgers. Some folks don't get it, but Rodgers has some size to him. Turner's Mini-Me. 5'6" 196 is a load. Low to the ground and packed with dynomite. Plus, I have heard that he is now closing in on 205. Wouldn't be surprised if dude was 210 by next year. Excited to see him do some things and I think Koetter may have some answers with the type of runs he calls. I want an additional RB besides Snelling, and I hope he too is a power back. With more speed though. |

Yeah, Rodgers is going to be fun to watch, I think he's the hardest runner on the team.

RE: ESPN: With weapons, Koetter can succeed
To be honest, as far as names, I don't know what's out there in FA or draft. From my limited understanding of the philosophy, maybe the ideal situation would be to have a flavoring of different styles but with enough crossover that it isn't obvious what's coming, i.e. I'd like to have a power guy but if you have stone hands it's just not going to work. I always liked Ovie coming out of the backfield.
I like Turner but if the right deal is out there and we can find a better fit for the system I could live with that. Trading Roddy I think would be a huge mistake assuming he gets his head out of his ass. Nothing like never running another Mularkey play to cheer you up. Also, I would be just fine with who we already have if we upgrade the OL, that has to be fixed or none of this other stuff matters much. |

Ray Rice, Ryan Grant, and Mike Tolbert are probably the top 3 UFA RBs this year. Although Tolbert is just a younger Turner IMO, so I'm not as interested in him as the other 2.

Chris Polk & Jacquizz Rodgers. That would be one hell of a backfield. |
