But it's one measure (well, a couple of measures.) So is completion percentage. So is sack percentage. So is YPA. But we don't use just one to judge a QB.

I like PFF, I just think it's overused a bit for what it is right now.

You don't have to be an expert to see whether someone wins or loses a particular matchup on any given play. PFF uses pure stats and ignores anything like potential and what a player was supposed to be doing on a given play compared to what he actually did (i.e. run a curl when the WR was supposed to run a fly) or whether it not a player is a 'system player' because then it becomes subjective.

Also, its not just 'one stat'. Its several stats analyzed play by play put into one grade. A perfect example is the NFL QB rating compared to the PFF rating. The NFL QB rating doesn't take into account whether a completed pass was a great play on a horrible pass or if an INT was the result of a drop. PFF does and adjusts its grade of a given play accordingly.

RE: Draft Pick Update
PFF is the best analysis site in football, IMO.

But they are still not perfect.

Turner grades out near the top of RB's in a bunch of categories, but the eyeball test and what we know does not quite match up with that assessment. We all know he gets hit behind or at the line 9 out of 10 run attempts and he goes down (forward at least) almost instantly probably 8 or those 10. And around 1 out of 10 he breaks off a good run and runs over 2 or 3 guys in the process.

And same thing with McClure. He grades out great on PFF because he never lets anyone by him. But when you watch the games and you see the pocket collapse almost instantly, it's because McClure has been pushed back into Ryan's face (along with the rest of the OL).

If PFF added an "Allowed pocket to collapse" stat, and then factored that into many of their other OL stat metrics, most of our guys would be at the bottom of the pack, including McClure.

Pretty sure he would get a negative grade on plays where that happened.

There isn't anything to back up what you are saying. Turner is one of the best backs in the game. Only AP has had better stats the last 4 years and not in every category. And the line is infinately better with McClure in there.

Stop hating it doesn't make you a better fan.

Nope, there's no measure or analytic out there to back up what I'm saying.

But I do watch the games and I know what I see. Tandy did an analysis during the 2009 season that supported what I'm saying about our OL. Ryan has very little time to throw before the pocket collapses. And simple logic says for a pocket to collapse, the guy in the middle has to get pushed back. I've watched it happen and so have many others here.

As for Turner, that one's even easier to see.

It's not hating, it's just reality. I wish it wasn't true, but it is.
