My concern is that in actuality it is Smith who the game has passed by, he is the one who always says he believes running the ball is the key to winning. The good thing about that is that we won't have to wonder about that too long, the truth should become fairly clear next season.

If you read one of the articles posted Mularkey was known to be a lock for the Jacksonville job at least a month ago. It was kept under wraps wisely, but people with the inside track knew Mularkey would be the Jags HC.

Do you think our guys in the front office just sit on their asses and watch our team play? I'm sure they were pulling strings, talking to guys, gauging people's interest in the position long before we even realized it.

Weird thing is if we had named Clements or Shotty Jr or Martz as OC I guarantee there would be a backlash about that. It's just how our fan base. I would have been fine with Clements but he's also never been an OC. Shotty Jr and Martz would have been epic fails. Also when Clements was the OC at Buffalo they weren't exactly amazing.

Excellent. I think that I will edit your comment, so that the message doesn't fade.

The Jets make splashes

There, let the little whiney fantasy geeks learn.

It should be remembered that no one was very hyped about Mike Smith 4 years ago. Or TD and some weren't hyped about Matt Ryan. So yeah, rather this than some big name that'll leave in a year or two. I'm not overly excited, but I'm not upset either. I'm looking forward to what a new name can do. He's been coaching for 30 years, his experience should be an asset for Matt Ryan. Also his name is Dirk...love that name lol

Right, but talking about guys for a month isn't near the same as interviewing. In fact to me it's sounding more and more like they had their mind made up already and just needed an interview to confirm.

I agree about Schottenheimr and Martz. I said before I don't know that much about Clements.

RE: Dirk our New OC
why would you need to interview a guy you worked with for a number of years?

That's irrelevant. Mike Smith hasn't proved he can win big games. Our issue is winning in the playoffs, What about this hire says "WE ARE GOING TO WIN A SUPER BOWL". Nothing. It's a comfort hire. Practically nepotism. This is not who you hire when you need change.

A ton of games and no playoff win. May as well have our SB by having winning seasons then.

No need for a playoff win or SB, just winning seasons.
