The salary cap does not allow for too many mistakes in regards to big money contracts. Thats the thing,.... His salary cap is not really outrageous (with the way TD did his contract) Base Salary numbers.. $5.5 million in 2011, $6 million in 2012, $7 million in 2013, $9 million in 2014 and $9.5 million in 2015 Salary Cap numbers...$6.5 million in 2011, $7.75 million in 2012, $8.75 million in 2013, $10.75 million in 2014 and $11.25 million in 2015 After the 2012 season... We could cut him and gain around 2 mil of cap space... After the 2013 season we could cut him and save 6 million in cap space.... The way it looks...This deal was basically a 4 year deal I agree... With a year under his belt... He should improve on what he did last year. ![]()

I showed this when people were freaking out about it when we signed him. It was basically a 4yr 36M deal or something like that. DRob isn't really my preferred kind of CB, but there are about 20 or so CBs in the league that make above 8M. So he really gets "top 20" money more than "top 5" money. As long as he plays like a good starter...that's the going rate. |

I liked everything he said except for two words: "little bit".

RE: DR: "i have to play better"
The issue I've always had with the "he's overpaid" complaints is that the statements are always made without proper context. He was the best available FA corner at the time, I've not heard anyone dispute that. Sure we had to pay up, that's the nature of the business, you want to sign best available you are going to have to pay. The alternative wouldve been to sign lesser talent or keep Chris Houston, the thought of which still makes me cringe.

yeah, back loaded contracts are nice, but still a lot of money on the front end. i'm not down on DR though, we need him to perform this year, so he definately has my support.

RE: DR: "i have to play better"
People are hard on players and coaches in general. Expectations are high and when things don't go as well as some want they need someone to blame.
Dunta is a very physical corner who played well considering it was his first year in a new system and you have to admit neither corner had the benefit of a stellar pass rush. Grimes is a solid cover corner who should have the number of interceptions he's gotten considering he was the most thrown at corner in the league. Some of you may not agree with me on Dunta's talent but there seems to be a lot of OC's in the league that do. |

I was looking at the NFL Network earlier and i heard Aso saying how his head was swimming trying to get Philly scheme down... In Oakland they played pure bump and run man coverage (similar to houston) ... With Philly they play man and zone... I think it will take him some time to get comfortable... Dunta said our scheme was totally different from Houston Scheme (Aso siad the same thing) . This is no excuse.. He has to continue to get better.. But the guy play was good last year... I understand you want great the way he was paid but you have to add in learning a different scheme on the fly... Remember he missed most of the offseason practices. ![]()

It's gonna be advantages for us on November 6th that Dunta used to face Peyton twice a year.

RE: DR: "i have to play better"
I definitly like the idea of throwing him in on some 3rd down's at nb with some blitz packages, it tottally suits his style of play.
I do think he deserve's another year to prove himself last year he was joing a new system coming off knee surgery. The way he talks it sounds like he'll step up this year hopefully have a year simular to his earlier years with the texans. |
