RE: DC candidate Thread
The Bears fired their GM (Colangelo). Oddly enough, they haven't made a decision on Lovie Smith.
If we plan to stick with a 4-3, Smith could be a great hire. |

Yes, and hopefully it won't be so hard to learn that we won't even be able to put players on the field until week 6. That always baffled me, how is it that BVG's defense could be so hard to learn that it took guys forever to get on the field but then on the field it looks so plain. |

And even after "learning" the scheme, the secondary still played out of position. |

RE: DC candidate Thread
After tonight, is Kirby Smart out of the question? College, I know, but that was the most impressive Defensive effort I've ever seen. I doubt he's interested, but man. That was impressive.
I say Spags. I'd love to see his DL scheme and some of those Jim Johnson blitzes against the Ain'ts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

RE: DC candidate Thread
There are some good candidates available right now. Del Rio wouldn't surprise me. They should also be flexible about possibly a 3-4 guy. A good coach will find a way to put the players in the best position, so a coach's background and philosophy shouldn't rule him out.

RE: DC candidate Thread
Possible DC candidates:
Jack Del Rio: Not my first choice. I think that he is OK, but nothing better than BVG Mel Tucker: Gets more from his players than JDR. Has never really had much talent to work with. At this time, he is my second choice. Raheem Morris: He was promoted too quickly. I don't have a clear fix on what he can do with a defense. He was a DC for less than a year. Mike Nolan: The most experienced guy on the board. His defenses are tough but not great. Reeves loved this guy. Lovie Smith: This is the guy I want. I know that he is still officially the HC of the Bears, but there have been a lot of changes in Chicago and Lovie might become a casualty. If they let him go, he would be a great fit. |

Nolan - His Denver D started strong then collapsed after about 5 or 6 games Lovie isn't going anywhere. Del Rio has good experience and knows what Mike Smith wants. Would he take the step down? probably This team is not changing to a 3-4. That would be another 2 years of personnel changes and we don't have enough draft picks and too many guys signed long term for that. There are great pieces and incredible potential. Lofton, Weatherspoon, Peters, Moore, Grimes - That's one hell of a core. Edwards will improve if Abe leaves. The problem with Abe is he bounces around the line and Edwards never got comfortable moving around too. The right coach will get the best out of this group. |
