RE: Cullen Jenkins fine for helmet hit on Matt Ryan
As far as tackling is concerned Dunta's hands are in position to wrap. We know he didn't and that he often doesn't, but for me the way I was taught to wrap was to make contact on the numbers with the face cage then burn your shoulder in to drive through the tackle as you do this whip the arms upwards. broken down the initial contact looks pretty much just like what happened here when you are out fo position. If Dunta was lower by a few fractions this would not be an issue because his head would have passed under Maclin's and his shoulder would have been the first to make contact.

As many have said the biggest down falls of this hit are that Maclin moved down towards Dunta's helmet, in an effort to brace. And Dunta did not have his head up. If Robinson was head up and could see what was happening he could of adjusted, as it is he got fined for a hit where for the most part he pretty much whiffed the whole thing and in my opinion Maclin sold it and sold it well. Either that or his jaw is glass because receivers take harder direct hits and get back up no problems. E.g. Ray Lewis' hit on Ocho Cinco.

Dunta needs to learn that if he wants to deliver hits like that you have to be in full control of your own body, at the the point of impact on his hit on Maclin, he was practically falling over.

Watch the video, you actually see him throw his arms backwards as he goes into the hit.

There also wasn't much downward movement by Maclin when bracing for the hit. Had he not turned away from it, the crown of Dunta's helmet would have gone right into Maclin's chin.

Agreed though. Dunta needs to stay true to the fundamentals. Don't lower your head, and wrap up. He could have killed Maclin if he'd have simply wrapped and lifted like you're supposed to.

Dude, it's like Thursday and some of those whiny little fuckers are still over on the main board still bitching about Dunta's hit.

That loss is hurting them as bad as the Packers loss hurt us last year, except I don't remember us bombarding the Packers boards bitching about it and talking shit.

"TOUCHDOWN! MY GOD, A TOUCHDOWN! WE THREW IT TO HAYNES! WE JUST STUFFED THEM WITH FIVE SECONDS LEFT! MY GOD ALMIGHTY, DID YOU SEE WHAT HE DID? DAVID GREENE JUST STRAIGHTENED UP AND WE SNUCK THE FULLBACK OVER! … WE JUST STEPPED ON THEIR FACE WITH A HOBNAILED BOOT AND BROKE THEIR NOSE! WE JUST CRUSHED THEIR FACE!" - Larry Munson broadcast UGA vs Tenn, 2001

Rest In Peace, Larry. You will be missed.
GO DAWGS! HUNKER DOWN!
