Cool inside info on the Julio trade
Quote:Some revelations in the book:

• Dimitroff fell in love with Jones and Georgia receiver A.J. Green early and made the decision to go after either one six weeks before the draft. As the draft approached, he zeroed in on the Browns' No. 6 pick and the 49ers' No. 7 pick. Heckert never let the 49ers have a chance to snatch the deal.

• Holley quotes two high-level Falcons scouts comparing Jones and Green.

From Lionel Vital, assistant director of player personnel: "Green is Randy Moss. Jones is Terrell Owens."

From Les Snead, director of player personnel: "Green reminds you of a better route-running, just-as-fast Randy Moss. He plays fast and has that great body control. With Julio, I think you're looking at a better Michael Irvin. He's just a strong human being."

• On the morning of the draft, Dimitroff placed a call to Belichick and asked his opinion of the prospective trade. Belichick is quoted saying: "Thomas, I'm just telling you as a friend. I wouldn't do it."

Holley writes that Belichick thought Jones struggles to get open, doesn't play as fast as timed, and had inconsistent hands. Belichick thought Jonathan Baldwin of Pittsburgh was "just as good if not better."

• Pioli told Dimitroff he would make the trade.

I can gladly say The Hoody (who i like alot) was wrong about the things he said about Julio... The guy gets open ALOT... The guy plays with his timed speed... Ans the guy hasnt been inconsistent with his hands... I like Baldwin and i liked him in college... I think Dude can be a difference maker no doubt if he is focused but Julio is better.

I will say this tho... I watched Julio in college... Dude did not play as fast as he is playing now... I think its because their offense mainly focused on running the ball... Just being honest.. When he ran that 4.3 speed at the combine i was thinking dude doesnt play with that speed (from what i saw in college) ... He does tho

Early returns indicate that Belichick may have been right. Baldwin is an extreme talent. I know that there are character concerns with Baldwin, but for now, we would have been better keeping the draft picks and taking Baldwin.

I disagree... I agree the guy is talented.... I liked Baldwin and wanted us to draft him with our late first round pick if we went WR...

Saying that.. He missed a couple of games earlier in the season because he and Thomas Jones got in a locker room fight and he broke his hands (character concerns cant be excluded) ...

The main reason i disagree is because of how we are using Julio and what he brings... Both are big physical WR's... Baldwin has build up speed.. You have to get him going to see his speed... Julio can take a 5 yard slant the distance... Dude is big and physical with burning speed.

Also.. im basing everything on the Hoodies comments

I like Baldwin tho... I would have been happy with him if we drafted him... I would have still admitted that A.J Green and Julio Jones were better prospects tho

What the hell are you on?

Early returns have Baldwin breaking his thumb in a fight with a teammate, not playing until Oct. 31, and not even breaking the 20 yard mark in 4 of his 5 games. Michael Jenkins looks All-Pro compared to Baldwin.

i think people are only thinking about the Monday Night game...when seeing that, I thought we might've made a mistake...then I saw Julio rack up 120+ yards in like 2 plays.

RE: Cool inside info on the Julio trade
I kind of agreed with BB I thought Baldwin would be as good of a down field threat but Julio had better Yac ability. I missed the boat on Torrey Smith I had him ahead of Hankerson but I thought Titus Young and Jernigan would be more productive early on.
