RE: Coaching Staff Ratings: Mike Mularkey
They aren't stacking the box and rushing 6, 7, or 8 though. They're playing off and loose with their back 7, and then their front four just tosses our offensive line around like rag dolls. We're not having issues handling the blitz, we're having problems just blocking the guy right in front of us.

I hear what you're saying, but you're not being wholey realistic. And some of these plays are still designed to put 300+ lb linemen blocking 240 lb LB's and safeties. So even if it's only the front 4 getting through that's fine, there's still huge mismatches on blocking assigments between our available blockers and their second layer. |

RE: Coaching Staff Ratings: Mike Mularkey
Every year there is a new reason on why MM can't do what he wants to do.
Unacceptable. Learn to adjust MM.

We need someone that can make the most of what he's given, as opposed to some stubborn football idealogue who needs everything exactly the way he thinks it should be. |

RE: Coaching Staff Ratings: Mike Mularkey
MM gets too much hate.
What really burns me up about some of the posts I see is that these are the same people who cried their eyes out for a more downfield passing attack. People wanted a more passing oriented, explosive (Saints, Eagles) offense. TD made the moves to allow it to happen but expected our OLine to perform as well, or better, than last year. That did not happen, obviously. Now these same people are crying their eyes out about Matt getting sacked, hit, and our OLine; and STILL calling for MM's job, just like last season. Ignoring the fact that we lost two pieces of our OLine, what exactly did people expect when we decided to go this route with JJ? Did you expect that Matt would get his four seconds to let routes develop? Did you expect that our running game would not suffer due to the scheme change? Did you expect that we would improve upon our scoring average from last season (which was already quite high)? Did you expect that changing our offensive philosophy in one shortened offseason would suddenly make us unstoppable? I guess what I am getting at is that I am sick of hearing people cry about our OC because he is the easy target. You cant have it both ways, so suck it up and stop blaming MM for shit he has no control over. Stop with this bullshit no huddle talk; its senseless to say that our effectiveness inside the no huddle is somehow related to how terrible our OC is. Just stop. |

You did not stop for a moment and think about how changing our offensive philosophy might impact our team? If you just ate up whatever some guy who gets PAID to lie to you said, then you set your expectations too high; thats not the fault of our OC. Thats your fault. |

We were sold at that very moment. This organization sold all of us fans on explosion. IF and only IF the organization was more worried about the OL replacements then they would have drafted and traded for it. I personally don't believe they knew It'd be this bad.

If anyone is guilty of hype this post-season it's them. They are the ones that have been talking "explosion" all year. Every interview they said explosion or big plays as something they need to improve on. This is one of the few times the media isn't the culprit. We were a 13-3 team that kept most of their pieces and improved at WR and DE, I don't think there is any reason not to buy into the hype. The fact is, the coaching staff didn't have this team prepared, and they deserve the majority of the blame. When you add a deep threat WR by moving up 21 spots, maybe they should have prepared the OLine for what that entails. |
