Falcons: Chris Polian: New Cutmeister?

The Atlanta Falcons are hiring former Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Polian to work in the team's personnel department, a knowledgeable source told ProFootballTalk.com on Sunday.

NFL.com's Steve Wyche confirmed the hire.

The Falcons are set to announce the move Monday, the source told ProFootballTalk.com.



My guess is they hired Chris to be the guy who tells certain unlucky players, "Heh coach needs to see you and bring your playbook." From what I have seen of his father on ESPN I am sure he has the personality to handle that chore although probably not much more than that.

David Caldwell, the Falcons director of player personnel that took over for Les Snead, came to the Falcons from Indianapolis and has worked with Polian. I trust he knows his skill set and how best to utilize them.

On a side note to this, I watched a video earlier and Brian Finneran was in it in a Falcons polo shirt. It appears he's on the Falcons staff still. I'm assuming as a receivers coach.
