Breakout Player?
I was on yardbarker today roaming around and I noticed an article saying that Harry Douglas was going to have a breakout year. Why is it that Harry Douglas is predicted to have a breakout year EVERY year?

2010, 2011, 2012 - all years that he was predicted to have a "breakout" season.

Now with the addition of Steven Jackson (Which is listed as the main reason) he is predicted by many to have a breakout season again? It doesn't make sense to me. I'm a huge fan, we all know that he has the ability to be explosive, but he HASN'T been. I can't sit and expect a breakout season from the guy. Give someone else a turn!

Who do you guys think will be a breakout player for our beloved Falcons this year?

I've got 3 guys I think could have pretty huge seasons for us this year, two on the offensive line.

Peter Konz
Lamaar Holmes
Jonathan Massaqoui

Konz is a no brainer, it's pretty much the consensus that he's going to turn into our lines Anchor once he's slid over into the center slot. Lamaar Holmes is expected to be our starting RT as of right now - of course it could change in camp but I doubt it. He's big, strong, and physical. The coaches are up on him big time, and I don't think they would have released Clabo if they didn't think he could hold his own against some of the best.

Massaqoui could be the dark horse for our defense. I think we see him moving from a down position into a standing position pretty often, and I think we will watch him rushing the quarterback from all sorts of different spots on the field. Nolan has said so many good things about him, and he appears to really like what the kid has shown him. I think he's going to step up and be our big time pass rusher. Just a gut feeling, I could be wrong.

RE: Breakout Player?
People forget we have a FB coming back who will make SJax even more of a beast. I'm predicting pro-bowl-like production from Bradie Ewing.

It's cuz people talk up HD like he's special or something. Really, he's just an average target and nothing more.

I really hope it's Massaquoi that steps up and goes double digit sacks.

This.

HD83 is assy. Never developed into a legit slot threat, and if he STAYS ON HIS DAMN feet he walks into the endzone, Matt doesn't get his shoulder split in half, and we win the super bowl.

Would be nice to finally have some of our homegrown DE depth actually develop into something for once.
