I'm not sure we spring for Brent to stay long term and he seemed like a good candidate to be part of our secondary long term. The way I am lpoking at it right now, is next season we may be Brent less, I still think we have a good secondary if that's the case. We would have two vets and guys who are just entering their prime. It shall be interesting but again keeping walls for me is important just like keeping Grimes was once upon a time. I also feel people are being unfair to Franks. Dude has come in and made good contributions in his first 2 seasons. He has stepped up when needed. Always seems to be around the ball. He was only to my knowledge involved in 2 seriously blown plays. And both of them looked like serious coverage farts where not everyone was sure who their assignment was. Interesting I read an article which sums up why we kept DeCoud, it seems that Tim Lewis is really behind him. Said he is a very smart player, and people are yet to see the benefits of his smarts. He has been making the secondary calls the last season. ( which might explain some of those blown plays, although that could also be a combination of what he called and a the poor structure of the scheme/playbook). Lewis also thinks that in this new set up DeCoud will be better equipped to make adjustments without delaying his own preparation to get into position, thus we should see him make even more plays on the ball. (Remember twice in 2 weeks he baited QBs to throw picks practically straight to him by faking he was playing the underneath route cutting back and pick off the deeper pass. Both times in the redzone. I've not been the greatest DeCoud fan, however he isn't completely shit. And I feel as though all our players were hamstringed by their previous coordinators. I think even if he doesn't turn into Ed Reed Junior the DeCoud, we will get under Nolan, Danna's tutelage will be a considerable upgrade on his former self. It's on him to improve his tackling because deserves to get bagged on for those awful angles he takes. But I think we will see a better player. Not sure he could make all pro level, but his role may just allow him to be seen as a top standard DB, I guess sort Of like Weddle. |

His name has often been floated as a Weems replacement on Special Teams, Owens despite his speed is not a return guy, which means he might be the odd man out. I think the Team sees Franks as the 4th corner, which in my opinion is pretty fair. ![]()

RE: Atlanta Falcons loaded at defensive back[FSS]
I could see us carrying 6 DBs instead of 5. If Nolan is serious about wanting to utilize more CBs in his scheme, it only seems natural.
