probably already mentioned but can't recall, but aren't passes short like to TE/RB/FB's not a responsibility of Grimes or Dunta?

SO when looking at the Overall Defensive stats/rankings you have to consider the other pieces.

I like what was brought up and how Grimes/Dunta ended up being a better tandem than Revis Island and Cromartie, but it goes to show we need to play tighter on the line (at least the LB's do) and prevent the YAC from the smaller routes.

Does that make sense? I dunno I'm kind of studying and trying to add to this thread. lol

Very impressive stats. The new depth at NCB and Safety should help bring those other rankings down as well.

It's not our the question to have the top CB duo, but be overall poor in pass defense. There's 9 other players on the field you can look at, and 5 others have defending the pass as one of their primary roles.

Yes some of them did play last season and yes i think Dunta and Grimes did a fantastic job....but I can find metrics that make just about anyone look like they are number one.

I hate article like this because numbers aren't everything....Unless it is more points on the board than your opponent at the end of the game. I would take the bottom rated defense and offense if we had an incredble number of turnovers and somehow won the superbowl.....Let's just win one at a time.

And we should sign Grimes to a contract extension now....because at the end of the season I think his excellent play could lead to an even higher contract....

How is it flawed? It is based on their play in 2010. The title should have been, which CB duo was best in 2010, but that's besides the point.

They're not even talking about Aso and Asante, it's Aso and Rogers-Cromartie. And all they're doing is taking each guy's individual stats and averaging them.

It doesn't get any more precise than this.

Which is why the article says "Asante Samuel and Nnamdi Asomugha" before running through the stats.

I think we have a great tandem....but it is the schemes that we play that is probably a MUCH larger factor. you can't put an individuals stats and say it would be the same on a different team. AGAIN this is flawed logic. That is like saying if you took the 3 best WR in the NFL and put them on the same team they would get the same yardage.....Would that be true? Don't you think they would have to factor in the offense plan and the QB...what is there was no line to protect him?

In this case A+B/2 Does not necessarily equal A+B/2 not to mention who they played against and did the throw more or less.....

This is NOT precision. It is a nice article that points out our secondary is very good at what they do....are they the best tandem. I don't think so in my opinion, I like them and feel they are solid but there are better tandems. As I said as long as the other team scores less than us....I could care less where article rank our team.

I concur. Drob is NOT better than cromartie or samuel. Equal at best. I love grimes but he is no asomugha or revis.

Id rank us around 3rd AT BEST. You ask any receiver in the league which tandem is the best I'd guarantee you WELL over 75 percent would NOT say grimes/drob.
