RE: Are the falcons legit (espn insider)
Here is my answer to the media. (In a remix to Young Jeezy's song):

My president is [half] black. We left the Giants black and blue.

Charlie Sheen stay winning, and the Falcons do too.

If the haters wanna hate, that is fine with me.

We may get the last laugh, after our Super Bowl victory!

RE: Are the falcons legit (espn insider)
The collective media won't trust us until we win that elusive playoff game. But even if we do this year (and I think we will), some will say we won all those games/secured homefield and a bye and couldn't win more than one. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Getting that playoff win is the next-to-last monkey we have to get off our back (winning the Super Bow being the other). For this year, we can only accomplish the latter if we can do the former. Another resounding win this week will go a long way in building confidence for this team and proving to anyone that last week's Giants game is going to be more the rule and not the exception for us this year in the postseason.

Even if we win the Super Bowl don't get your hopes up with the media. It would probably play out like this:

Falcons win their "first" playoff game (which is how they will report it). Response: Yeah well a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. Besides the other team (insert lame excuse here).

Falcons win the NFC title game. Response: Yeah, well they've never won a Super Bowl. Besides the other team (insert lame excuse here).

Falcons win the Super Bowl. Response: Football season is over, will Dale Jr win the Daytona 500 in 2 weeks?

RE: Are the falcons legit (espn insider)
This may be hard to believe but I actually think deep down a lot of the media members (especially those from the south and Atlanta area like Curt Menefee) really want the Falcons to do well so they can be proud of them. I think a lot of the negative press the Falcons get is because of all the years the Braves had great regular season teams and then didn't do jack in the playoffs and made many look like fools for believing in the Braves and talking them up. So now the Falcons have gone 0-3 in the playoffs and these same media members hold that against them. They aren't different than many Falcon fans who have a "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude, kinda like myself.

A person can make statistics say whatever they want. It's easy to find trends that perpetuate the point of view you are trying to push.
