Alternate Universe
I pray we can read something like this about Matty Ice one day - Except without the Rankin Smith part... that almost made me nauseous.

RE: Alternate Universe
Bret Favre would of died if he stayed in Atlanta. He had issues.

Yep. Favre would have died from all the drinking and drug problems he had.

My father was a coach during that period and used to tell us how Favre would show up with a white powder smeared on his face and they had to keep him from the media. They were extremely worried about him.

RE: Alternate Universe
Had Favre until coming Atlanta ever spent an extended period of time in a city like Atlanta?

Nope. He was born and raised in rural Mississippi and played at Southern Miss. When he got to Atlanta he was overwhelmed by the night life and couldn't control himself. The Packers were the only team for which he could have played for an made it in the NFL because Green Bay is in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin. There's nothing to do there except play football.

I'll never understand how people can say the Falcons screwed up by trading him when you take into account all the off the field issues.

Wow. But I can believe it.

Because people are notoriously bad at taking things into account and it is still going on. That's at the root of all the misconceptions you see today about the Falcons.

Put another way, people are lazy dumbasses.

You summed it up perfectly.
