I was just looking at this list of a few guys that got cut and a couple of names jumped out at me that I think would help the Falcons

• Joselio Hanson, CB, Eagles: You can throw a stone and hit a team in need of a cornerback, so Hanson, 31, figures to get a few phone calls. Hanson had served as the nickel corner in Philadelphia for a long stretch, with an occasional fill-in start, but are apparently opting for rookie Brandon Boykin instead. Hanson’s experience alone will get him another look.

• Marvin McNutt, WR, Eagles: A whole host of talented 2012 draft picks and undrafted free agents will get their pink slips Friday — QB Case Keenum, WR B.J. Cunningham and OT Matt Reynolds among them. McNutt has some serious potential, standing 6-foot-4 and coming off a career at Iowa that saw him set the school record for most TD catches. He had a strong camp too, pushing Riley Cooper for a job, but the Eagles stuck with Cooper in the end.

I wouldn't mind Antonio Dixon to help with Peters out or Muckelroy to help with our poor ILB depth.

Edit: Oh yeah, a healthy Garrard would be much better than McCown as our #2.

Garrard would be miles better than McCown but I don't know the time table on Garrard's recovery from knee surgery. Also dude didn't even get to play in a preseason game. So that means he hasn't thrown a pass in a live game since preseason of 2011 and has had 2 surgeries since then.

I really like Marvin McNutt. I always have. Look at the numbers he put up at Iowa playing with Ricky Stanzi as his QB.

The only reason he got cut by the Eagles is because they're loaded at receiver. People talk about bringing in a veteran like Deion Branch, Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, ect. Why go get some over the hill bum when you can get a guy who's a rookie with stud potential?

Time table? Meh! I believe Miami was saying another 2 or so weeks and he would be ready back when he was their starter. But seriously, I'd take a (typically) hobbled DG over the healthiest McCown available for the #2 spot.

Even if needed, make the change week 2. But we have a spot in our roster we could make a quick and easy improvement for likely about vet minimum.

Well there's is no reason to make that move before this first Sunday. If we were to sign him now we would have to guarantee his salary for this season. That's why a lot of veterans are unemployed right now.
