It's a bloated stat - add in the turnovers and we are 20/50 and that is 40%...still not great, but should get better as we get more and more comfortable with the schemes.

I mean - they could convert every third down, but if we got a turnover before they scored then we would win. Their third down conversion would be 100%.

That's what I'm thinking. We are already better and we are not finished improving.

That was mainly the point of making this thread. To point out that we could get even that much better on defense.

Oh, there is no doubt about it....we keep our turnover rate the same and get our 3rd down stop rate down to the low 30s high 20s, we will be ROCKIN!!!

One thing that is nice compared to previous years, I actually enjoy watching our defense play now.

Yep. This year's defense reminds me so much of the 1998 defense. Fun to watch! That defense we had guys coming from all over the place going after the QB and this year's defense is the same way.
