Screw Fleener, Jonathan Martin and Cordy Glenn are still sitting there. If they were gone, I'd be saying Fleener too, but those are 2 absolute bona fide starting from day 1 OL's right there that are still available.

Martin and Glenn would be starters by default. If they fall to 55 then great. But they aren't PROJECTED to be top 5 at their position. Hell, they're not certain to stay at LT

I don't know what sites you're looking at, but Martin is the #3 ranked LT on pretty much every site I've looked at. And Glenn is the #2 ranked OG on every board I've looked at too.

Yeah, what I mean is they are top 5 in the class, but Fleener could be top 5 in the LEAGUE in a few years. No one is saying that about any lineman left. Maybe I got a mancrush on him or something, but I feel like he would do a lot more for us than any OL on the board.

Championships are won in the trenches and we have an offensive trench issue that's priority #1.

Just remember how many times you cursed at Baker the last couple years and how many times when Svitek made a mistake, you said "at least he's not Baker", but you knew deep down that Svitek wasn't even close to being the answer at LT either.

And we really have no clue what we got at RG still either. Manawai? Johnson? Jackson? Who really knows about any of them. And certainly not Hawley, we are sure now that he's just a center in the waiting and that's it.

Add all that to the fact Blalock and McClure are just above average at best OL's and we still have HUGE question marks for our OL. Especially at LT, which we absolutely know is a leaky sieve already. God help us if Svitek gets hurt.

Believe me, I really want Fleener too. But if we're going to move up to 33rd or 34th from 55th, we're giving up this year's 2nd, 3rd, and next year's 2nd for it. And if that's the case, we're not going to do that for the guy who's going to sit behind TG and learn and maybe just play enough to catch a dozen passes. We'd go after the guy who can start immediately and play 4 downs in the weakest position we have in the highest priority department, the OL.

Don't get me wrong guys, I wholeheartedly concur we need line help. I just don't feel that either one of those guys are the help we need. Brian Billick said it best on Mike and Mike recently: "Need is the worst evaluator". If one of those guys are on the board at 55(I doubt they are) then they would be good picks, but they're not good enough to move up for IMO. Fleener is. He would "beat out" HD as our 3rd receiver and take snaps from Gonzales as the season went on too(keeping him fresh). I could honestly see him getting 40-50 catches, 600-650 yards, and 5-7 TDs this year. That would be a bigger impact and take us toward winning more than a guy that may be 0.4% better than Svitek.

Really this whole argument is invalid as I highly doubt we make that move, and in TD I trust. I fully expect to hate our pick for like 30 seconds until I accept that he will be awesome.
