I'm convinced the "unforgivable sin" over there is questioning how the mini mods moderate the board. I'm convinced of that because of several PM conversations I've had with more than one of them. Some are worse than others, but there is a mentality among some of them that they were beat up in the sandbox too much when they were kids so they have to lord their mini mod status over other people. And it's pretty sad.

I actually had one tell me to stop questioning moderating decisions publicly. And yet they ban good, long-term posters for not realizing a swear word wouldn't be masked but let Julian St. Clor make "jokes" about burning Jews in ovens. It's just absolutely ridiculous.

My guess is if Arthur Blank knew what went on there, he'd crack skulls over it. But he's too high on the letterhead, and as it is the entire thing is run by three monkeys fucking a football, so it won't change.

I remember PMing all the mini mods when several liberal posters were banned in a somewhat relatively short matter of time while actual trolls were given Teflon status. My reward was a short ban on the boards and being told if I question mod decisions again in public I would be IP banned.

Apparently you can do anything on the official boards except call out the utter hypocrisy it is run under.

It really is sad. How weak minded does someone have to be to act as if their decisions are above question?

Particularly when without the fans, they wouldn't have a message board to lord over?

I finally got a response fromes James H about my PM. The first post is what I sent him and the second is what he responded with:

There have been multiple users on AFMB who clearly have no intention on providing any productive conversation on AFMB, and are merely here to stir the pot. I don't know what type of protocol you guys have to adhere to, but the amount of trolls on here seems a bit much. Today, I had the unfortunate pleasure of being personally attacked via PM from a user. They PMed me questioning my marriage and my fatherhood all stemming from a football discussion in which I disagreed with the poster that Kevin Kolb should replace Matt Ryan as our starting QB. I still have the PM he sent me, and I also PMed SacFalcFan to see if he could remedy the situation. I know that the thread that I started about said user has since been taken down by Sac, and inside that thread are MORE personal insults that he has dished out towards me. On one ocassion he asked me to ask my wife if she knew a Brandon. I told him that I would love to ask my wife a question in person but I could not because I am in Iraq. He then replied with a comment of "Well why would I ask you to ask her if she knew a Brandon...what do you think she has been doing since you have been in Iraq?" That to me is completely unnaceptable and I have asked SacFalcFan to apply an IP ban on him. Why are so many trolls allowed to remain on these boards, but valid and well respected posters have been banned for calling these said trolls out? I know my actions inside the thread I started were not very productive as I had a few choice words for him that were blanked out, but to personally attack my family is absolutely uncalled for. Please let me know any information you can give to me. I would really love to help AFMB turn a corner and become a place of constructive criticism and fun topics of discussion, but with so many trolls running rampant, it's hard to find a legit conversation anywhere on here. Thank you.

Thanks for the note, and sorry you've had to deal with some a'holes.

You're a soldier, serving our country -- and you certainly do not need nor deserve anyone giving you any grief for any reason. Next time you encounter such a person, send me the details and I'll take care of it.

There isn't really a policy for mods; the boss assigned a few guys he knew from several years ago and that's that.

Every sports franchise is different in how they approach message boards. There is no new idea about how to run these things, and no shortage of suggestions. They've been around for 15+ years; some heavily moderated, others not moderated at all.

The truth is; the forums are here because fans use them. That is the only reason we continue to pay the hosting bill. When the fans stop using them, we'll pull the plug. The forum doesn't support our core business (playing football), so it is not going to receive much attention on a regular basis.

We are in the process of migrating our flagship site to the NFL Network. When that's done, we'll probably focus on the forums for a little bit. I'd suspect things will get better by Training Camp.

I actually like James. H after YEARS of complaining to the mini mods about setting up limits on when new users could make threads and being told by the mini mods to drop it and it would never happen and getting one of my several bans from there, James actually said it would be easy to do and set it up in a day or so. Now new user have to wait awhile to make new threads. This has helped the fly by night trolls. The other trolls are the lunatic vick fans that have entrenched them self in the board for years, AKA Mr.Right\Vick75\ATL75 etc. That dude is a complete looney and should be ip banned on a regular basis.

Dumbass mini mods have been dragging here feet about doing anything to curb trolls for years and James takes care of it quickly and honestly. His statement also seems to shoot holes in the idea that the mini mods can't ban people and it is a huge no no, Alot of us know they can ban people and ip ban people in the blink of an eye, but the fact they have been telling us that the higher ups are tieing their hands of it is a joke.

The mini mods of been a complete disservice to the Falcons and I do not care that they are not paid, they really have hurt the online Falcons community with years of neglecting to actually MODERATE the forum and probably caused a number of fans to leave because of the cess pool they have helped create.
