Erik Coleman back at FS????
First off: This is not a thread knocking Decoud! - Just something I had on my mind and wanted to know what you all thought about this!
I was thinking with the way Coleman played FS in 2008 he was absolutely great at that position! - My Question is would you all be mad if Coleman got his FS spot back from Decoud? - No Decoud hasn't done anything bad enough to lose his job or anything! - But is Coleman better at FS than Decoud? Decoud is good at FS - But can have his moments! - Sometimes he tries to hitstick too much and don't rap up! - Moore seems like he is coming around at the SS safety position! - Yea he makes his share of mistakes but he will learn from them in time - I think he could be the SS the Falcons have been searching for in the future! Decoud and Moore is a nice combo but could...... Coleman and Moore be an even deadlier combo? - Both are great run stuffer's - Coleman coverage game was good in 08! - Moore is still learning but will get in time IMO! Just something I had on my mind! - Now give me your opinions Punks!

RE: Erik Coleman back at FS????
I love Decoud, and I'm a huge fan of his. But he does have his share of bad plays, as does everyone on the field. However, when you look at on the field performance, and look how Coleman performed at the FS position, I do think that Coleman would be the better option there. I could be wrong. But I think that Coleman/Decoud sharing snaps would be a great idea. I don't want to lose Decouds speed on the field, but Coleman on the FS side of the field has some huge upsides.

RE: Erik Coleman back at FS????
I like the idea of Coleman rotating out with both Moore and DeCoud so they all remain fresh. If Moore can keep playing at a high level, then he is the future, as is DeCoud, but I like the idea of Coleman as depth and rest for them.
Ignorance can be educated.....Stupidity is to the bone. |

RE: Erik Coleman back at FS????
I would keep DeCoud at FS. DeCoud is the one that moved Coleman to SS in the first place.
Yes, DeCoud has his bad moments but what player doesn't? The guy is a baller and will be a pro bowler one day. |

I don't think there's any quicker way to bruise a young player's confidence than to take away his starting gig.
As others have said DeCoud has had his brain fart moments, but nearly all of them have been mental and not physical mistakes. DeCoud plays a very physical style at FS. I love that. Your idea is not a ridiculous one ('cause I love me some Coleman at FS too) but I prefer DeCoud. It's a hell of a good problem to have and/or discuss.

RE: Erik Coleman back at FS????
I forget which one it was, but both Mike Smith and Thomas Dimitroff were asked who they thought was the MVP of each side of the ball. I am pretty sure it was Smith, and he said Thomas DeCoud.
He played at a near Pro Bowl level last year, and I only expect him to be better as the year goes. |

I won't lie, that big play he gave up to Lance Moore for the touchdown really hit me in a sour way. :/

Still, I think he's ahead of Moore in his understanding of the pro game (witness Moore's non-coverage on the Shockey TD). Coleman is more savvy than either, and more versatile, but doesn't have their youth or athleticism. So it's a tough call, and Coleman would be within his rights to expect his job back following an injury. I think he'll get it, but with a lot of substitute downs and situational play in the remainder of 2010 for Moore. I wouldn't expect to see Coleman back at FS unless DeCoud is injured. In any event, having three starter quality players for two spots (with Coleman able to handle both) ain't all bad. |

RE: Erik Coleman back at FS????
Coleman was roasted in the first game of the year by a pass from dixon, Decoud was beat by Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees. I'm not sure if the positions are different in our scheme, but I know it's the same line backer wise.

RE: Erik Coleman back at FS????
Question is, when Coleman comes back, what happens to William Moore? Honestly, I think Willy Mo has to stay at the starting SS spot. I think the Saints game was a pretty big test for him, and he didn't play bad. I mean, he wasn't good either, but not bad IMO. He will just keep on getting better and better IMO. Most can agree that his talent level may be the best out of all the safeties on our roster. Willy Mo stays at the SS starting spot.
As for DeCoud, I don't see him losing his spot either. He stays at FS. I really don't know what's gonna happen with Coleman... Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.
