Erik Coleman back at FS????

I thought the play was doomed from the beginning. They spilt the RB wide and we had a CB on him. Moore was in the slot and we had Weatherspoon on him. I believe Deion who said, "He was open from the start." Spoon dropped into zone right away and Decoud was in the middle of the field so regardless that was going to be a completion. Best case scenario is that Moore gets tackled right after he catches it.

How is Decoud and Moore going to become the tandem that we all want if we pull them after a couple of bad plays? Can you imagine if he had not been playing this past week? That INT may never have happened...

Doesn't really matter with all of the talent there, but I as a DB cannot stand too much rotating (denotes having no 3 and out) plus DB's need to get in a rhythm.

I'm not making excuses for DeCoud, even though he is one of my favorite players, BUT


give a little credit to a Superbowl MVP QB who stared down his tight end and brought the safety up a half step or so. (Go read the post from Jedi with the saints writer stating exactly that!)

DeCoud will be a probowler, I'm certainly not ready to give up on him for a few blown coverages/missed plays the 3rd game into the season

personally I would like to see DeCould, Coleman and Moore on the field in obvious passing downs. Can you imagine having Moore covering over the middle at Linebacker depth? I think a WR would think twice before trying to run a slant.

Heading into 2009, before Lawyer Milloy was released, a lot of thought was given to keeping him on the squad as a hybrid player, moving to linebacker in appropriate situations. I think you're right on target thinking Moore could do the same.

Lofton is a killer against the run, but he still is just ok in coverage. In a Nickle situation I would love to see:

We would have a ton of speed on the field, and Weatherspoon and Moore both matchup better with speedy running backs coming out of the backfield and TE's.
