RE: Eary Falcons Mock Draft - (first 5 rounds)
I like the positions, but the last thing I want to see is another short skinny receiver who will get broken in half once they get hit by NFL players. I want as close as possible to what GB, NO, & SD have, 3 or 4 guys who are OVER 6'1", 215 lbs, thick, strong, & run at least 4.4x. Actually, if we could get 2 receivers over 6'3" that fit that criteria that would be incredible. Then we really would look like those other teams.

i like the big receivers as well Beef - but we need one - we need one explosive, small quick cat - one guy like Desean Jackson - then we can have bigger guys to go with.....anyway, that is my opinion.

Love the mock gdawg... I don't know much about your 2nd and 3rd round picks, but they seem to address needs well. Something doesn't feel right about going TE first round, but it is a sensible pick especially if Gonzalez retires.

1st, 4th, and 5th are money. I don't think Ziemba will be there in Round 4 though.

I have played football against your number 5 pick Mr. Locke in high school. He went to Hugo High School and I went to Valliant and it was a regional rivalry for years.

RE: Eary Falcons Mock Draft - (first 5 rounds)
I like your draft a lot especially if we pick up a more experienced DE, in FA. We need a pass rusher in a bad way.

I am currently looking through some drafts and they run like this

FootballFanSpot 1/18
Justin Houston DE (Georgia) Not sure I like this pick, He projects as a top LB prospect as an edge rusher. Not sure how that translates to our D.

Squidoo NFL Draft 1/18
Kyle Rudolph TE (Notre Dame) This is a pick I like, however if we could pick up a receiver at this spot if the talent matches and then get up high in the second round to nab Rudolph as I have seen him projected as top of the 2nd round too, so long as it is worth the value and address the needs based on the strength of the board I'd be all over it. I did like you Jerrel pick, but I feel like we need a fast guy who is very physical on the inside sort of how Early Doucet was a problem when Arizona had Boldin and Fitz too. I think we can pick up a free agent wide out to add to this stable though, so in some respects Jerrel may make more sense as the younger compliment to a more seasoned player.

Our Receiving group for 2011 in my opinion may look like this White, Jenkins, (HD/New Receiver) Meier, New Receiver. - This is not an order and it is based on Finn Retiring. We need to add at least one fast/strong receiver for early action. I think Kerry will start coming along and making his contributions. He is well put together physically, and his hands are incredible even if he had HD syndrome next season he would still bring in the majority of any look he gets.

I do not think any of the guys in our practice squad can unseat anyone on the current receivers roster, and if we go receiver early/FA they won't be better than that guy as well.

Vikingsgab
Johnathan Baldwin WR (Pittsburgh)
[b]If you want to see the Falcons offense really get rolling, then find a consistent and productive receiver to line up across from Roddy White. Baldwin is a giant at 6’ 5” and 230 pounds and would be a dream for Matt Ryan’s already satisfactory toolbox. This pick would be especially important if Tony Gonzalez decides to hang it up for good.
I really think that if he is there we got to take a look at this guy. For me it really is between Baldwin and Rudolph 1st round, unless there are some of the better DE's available.

Draft Debacled 1/17
Michael Floyd WR ( Notre Dame)

Similar feelings as with Baldwin

I have never watched Baldwin play but - on paper - he sounds great. I will do my due diligence on him but Baldwin sounds like a good prospect for Falcons to consider.

One thing that has me place Floyd over Baldwin is he hasn't shown as much separation. He is fast and finds openings in coverage, and wins battles with great body positioning but he is not an explosive zoomer. That being said with his size and the fact that he goes up to meet the ball you essentially put a combo of Gonzo (hands, vertical jump/ going to meet the ball at its highest point/ Good route running) and Jenkins (speed but not explosion) on the field.

Floyd is a zinger he is sizeable but I fear he is fragile for that reason the fact that Baldwin could emerge as a big freak option who is durable and certainly a pay dividends in our Offense, he wins out as the receive I would want between these 2.

RE: Eary Falcons Mock Draft - (first 5 rounds)
I dont like Kyle Rudolph at all . I feel we can go ahead with a guy like Justin Peelle he was ok in 08' anyone who remembers the SD game he made some big plays over middle ..He is not young but we can spend a later round pick on TE and let Mularkey start getting Harry Douglas/Meier or drafted wr involved . We dont need to waste a first round pick on a TE and especially a blocking one its doesnt make sense.

1st round pick should be BPA or C , RB , DE

C to replace McClure in a year
DE to replace Abe
Rb to groom to replace Turner in 3 years

or a bold move to move into top 5 picks to get a big time play maker.maybe the move to keep AJ Green in state of Georgia . Im not a huge fan of AJ but I think the team needs a spark especially after this brutal playoff loss

I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 .
