Eary Falcons Mock Draft - (first 5 rounds)
The 13-3 Atlanta Falcons have too many needs to address in one draft. Given the aggressive desire to "win it all" now I look for Thomas Dimitroff/Arthur Blank and company to go into free agency and grab two starters - one of which will most likely be a defensive end. We probably need another cornerback in free agency as well given the disappointing season of Dunta Robinson.

#1-27) Kyle Rudolph, TE-Notre Dame (6'6", 265lbs) This guy can flat out run and is large enough to block in Mularkey's system as well. After watching his highlights, Rudolph looks a lot like Greg Olsen of the Bears or maybe even better - a young Tony Gonzalez. If we could get this guy at #27 overall, it would be a great pick. I realize Tight End is probably not even in our top 5 needs but it will be soon - grab the best talent while its there - at most, TG is going to play one more season.

#2-60) Jerrell Jernigan, WR/KR/PR-Troy (5'9", 190lbs, 4.32/40) This is the "playmaker" that the Atlanta Falcons so desperately need. I don't think he is a starting WR who plays 30 snaps a game in the NFL but this is the guy who can be electric in the return game, run reverses and be our slot WR - who knows? maybe he develops into a Desean Jackson type of player and a starting WR but - for now, he gives us what we need - a "homerun threat".

#3-93) Jeremy Beal, DE-Oklahoma (6'3", 267lbs, 4.80/40) He may not be the "sack artist" we need to take over for John Abraham but he is a high motor, high IQ player with violent hands and gets to QB fairly consistently. He could vie for being a starter in 1-2 years and has more natural size than Kroy.

#4-130) Lee Ziemba, OT-Auburn (6'8", 319lbs) - another "big nasty" with competitive streak and has violence in his game. We need to stock the O-Line a little bit every year as I'm sure we will lose one of our free agent offensive linemen.

#5-163) Derrick Locke, RB-Kentucky (5'9", 190lbs, 4.32/40) - here is our new 3rd down back that will hopefully be much, much healthier than Jerious Norwood. He has homerun speed at the tailback position - great pass catcher which is sorely needed to maybe start a foreign concept to MM - the "screen game".

6th and 7th round picks can be used to take fliers on mamoth defensive tackles and project cornerbacks...

I don't see us getting Charles Johnson........Panthers can retain his rights as he is just a restricted free agent and he is fairly cheap. After losing Peppers to free agency last year - there is no way they are going to let Charles go - Charles is definitely not in charge! Smile

We get that draft and find an impact-making DE in FA and we'll be among the best teams in the NFL.

Covers our needs and what we exactly need. Good job....

[Image: 2menybt.jpg] Invest in the trenches with high draft picks and we will see both sides of the ball vastly improve.

I'm no Dan Reeves.....I'm not taking a blocking Tight End in the 1st round and trading next year's first round pick to do it......
