It is a number without context. Coleman is by far and away our best safety, and Brian Williams is easily our best CB as well?

When was Grimes declared the starter? Was his job truly in jeopardy during the offseason/TC/PS?

And to get some inside scoop

Has the coaches' opinions changed on Chris Owens since his benching? Do he have a chance to reclaim the nickel spot next year or is Franks impressing the coaches enough to try him out at nickel after Brian Williams leaves?

Grimes was declared the starter once Houston was traded. Grimes would have started the entire season last year had it not been for the FO really wanting to play the guys they drafted and paid (Houston, Owens, Hill, Williams). The coaches wanted Grimes, especially Emmitt Thomas, but incase you dont already know, the FO runs shit! Owens really didnt have a chance, that was media hype and was only said to motivate him to work hard and earn that nickel spot. Brian Williams was never considered. He is a nickel & back up to all the Db positions. And as far as Franks goes (i know somebody's about to get mad) but it was a coin toss to cut him or Jackson....Franks won. I dont see Franks staying on this team another year tho. He's not what they thought he was.

Owens is messing up more mentally than physically. Its like he isnt focusing or something. Might be going thru something personal.

Thanks Sportsfreak.... That Franks thing is surprising(well, to me at least).

I never saw why people were so high on Franks. He seemed to be brought in simply as a return guy/nth string DB. Guess his return skills weren't all that they were cracked up to be.

Well I don't know squat but it seems that Franks is probably right where he was planned to be. We have enough vets that they do not have to play late round rooks at the moment. He probably has a real leg up on a 45 man active spot next year, it should be his to lose. Owens just isn't as good as Grimes and Robinson and Williams really knows his way around Smitty's stuff on D, if Williams is healthy Smitty probably has a better comfort level going with him right now.

Grimes is 5 foot nine inches and a hundred sixty five pounds of pure corner-back. No fat no gristle. I loved when he was all wrapped up on Blount this past Sunday. Say what you will but he was going to bring him down and Blount wasn't getting away OMG-LMAO, and thats more than some other bigger dudes can say...

Oh yea how about that Lombardi character? Isn't he something? Like a friggin cartoon or something. Good Lord but I am a football Guru next to that guy, hello?
