Oh lordy, what a fuck up.

lol a run defense specialist ...LMFAOOO .. it was actually 14 million and most of the $$ was tied up in its first 2 years

Quote:The Falcons finally made a move to re-sign one of their own Tuesday, bringing back Chauncey Davis on a four year, $14 million contract. NFL.com reports that most of the money will be tied into the first two years

So unless we plan on dumping Chauncey he has already seen that $$ cause its been 2 years since contract ext

so you were wrong there Radical

RE: Do you think we should draft a DB early ? and do you trust TD and his scouting of one
Im just glad ATLJBO agrees with me here

Right now we have a DE a rotation of

ABE
Bierman
Davis
Anderson top 10 pick just 4 years ago..
Sidbury who hasnt seen the field

My problem with drafting a 1st round pick at DE is I want the pick to be on the field.Last year we expected Spoon to be a starter he was our first round pick he was going to see bulk of snaps ..He got injured but was projected as starter even over Nicholas..That was fine cause we projected Peterson to be gone by this coming season and hopefully we resign Nicholas who played much better late end of season and we got our starting core of LBS next 3-4 years of Lofton, Spoon, Nicholas

Back to problem with drafting DE first round ...depending on camp unless the rookie has a breakthrough camp Bierman and Abe will remain starter ...So then we all agree we swap DE in and out but when are we going to allow Sidbury and the rookie to develop ..Plus have Chauncey Davis into the mix..I expect a 1st round pick to be starter by year 2 the latest and we are a team built for now and expect to be contender in the playoffs we cant just throw the rookie at there at DE to take his lumps and learn the game

Why I want a FREE AGENT DE

If that free agent DE performs we still allow Bierman & Sidbury the development stages where they are rotational DE and not counted on as much especially Bierman

Plus if we bring in a veteran DE , we can weigh our options at the end of next year
If he performs up to level we wont be STRAPPED with signing ABE to a decent size contract . Of course we want Abe to stay I feel he got another 2-4 years but if we draft a first round pick just hypothetical he doesnt develop quick we will be forced to bring back Abe while if we bring in a veteran pass rusher that performs we can then slide over to Abe and with Bierman with 1 more year and the process we all think we wont be strapped to giving Abe whatever he wants

You said 4 year 20 million.

Can't say shit when you were further off the mark than I was going by memory.

Only 8 million was given in the first two years.

My lord, how are the Falcons going to ever recover from such a fuck-up... oh wait, it wasn't one. 14 million dollars, only 8 million at most given in the first two of the four years. We should go shoot TD.

We'll put you in charge. That way we can be sure to have fuck-ups like Vernon Gholston and Everson Griffen on the team.

No one gives a damn about what you expect because you don't know fuck all about what you're talking about.

I was just about to say you both are wrong ..lol..

And yea Swift... We could save money if we cut Davis.. I think he only has around 1.4 million left of bonus money (over the nest 2 years) and his cap hit is 3.4 million.

In a uncap year.. We could also cut JA98 ($3.558 million in base salary in 2011)

Your correct he has around 1.5 mil left of his bonus then his cap hit but Radical pointed out he is a solid run specialist for 3 million not sure TD and front office will cut ties. I was disappointed in Davis last year I expected more from him.

I think we came so far along with the JA98 development and while he is a bust and not what we expected it would be just as heartbreaking to release him and some team pick him up and he turn into a ok player. He is more sided for DT rotation but can also play the DE spot so he can be serviceable

Another reason why Im not thrilled with going DE first round ATLJBO

If Jerry can come back like some people and coaches think
Jerry & Babs and Peter can create more of a inside push that will help out our DE as well..so while I think we need a pass rusher I just want a veteran DE Kiwi/Edwards or trade for a Osi whatever lets go get one

I believe all money matters go through McKay still.

You cant think like that.. You would never draft a DE... I always felt like JA98 was more of a 3-4 DE.. His sacks in college were gimmicks (the sacks mostly came on stunts and busted coverage) ... Plus JA98 never had a specific assignment... Dude was allowed to just freelance... When we draft him.. I just prayed and hoped he would workout... I just hate how McKay drafted players in the 06 and 07 draft... The only thing that save him is John Abraham

I feel like you cant just draft a DE just to draft them... It has to be a guy that can be a impact guy.

A FA DE would be perfect but with the judge judgement coming in most likely monday (and it looks like the players will win) ... We will most likely go by the 2010 rules meaning... No impact guys like Kiwi,Johnson, or Edwards will hit FA.

Thats why i want to see what TD does this year...
