I would really like to read the link about Franks also... Ive never heard anything close to that.... I felt like dude was a complete steal in the 5th round

Back to the topic... I think we will take a DB early (in the 2nd and 3rd round pick) ... I dont count Middleton and Franks (even tho i think he can develop into a good NB and potentially a starter) ..Both are 5th round picks... Chevis Jackson was a complete BUST and the jury is still out on Chris Owens.

If TD drafted a 2nd or 1st round DB's and they were bust... I would feel more uneasy about TD drafting DB's... I do think he great picks in Thomas Decoud and William Moore (even if they are safeties) ... We will see tho... I do think we will draft a DB tho.

as for impact by previous pick. Owens closed out the 09 season very strong, if we hadn't picked up DRob, Owens would have been one of our starters. coach also said in an interview that owens was slated to be the starting nickel next season, like it or not, unless we make a big move somewhere, i have no reason to expect any different, unless Franks really shows out in TC, provided of course there is TC... i'll go look for the link to that interview, meantime, it's back to the norm, you know, swift bashing the FO....

Ill try and find that link as well could have sworn Ive read on AFMB that the coaching staff didnt see the development out of Franks . Its also kind of rare for them to say that cause this staff and front office protects its players even though some dont perform up to standard they protect em in the media with such bull shit statements as they are happy with there progress

I also think its telling that the coaching staff didnt put Franks into the playoff game (think he dressed) when Owens was having that rough time .

Im not giving up on Owens but I dont think he will amount to much I had higher hopes for Franks

Such is the nature of drafting in the later rounds. Anyone who expects a GM to consistently pluck starters from rounds 3-7 is holding them to an unrealistically high standard. The harsh reality of the NFL draft is that the vast majority of players selected after day one (or is it day two now?) won't stick in this league.

I don't think you can refer to a player who got paid $600K per year as a "complete BUST." More apt would be to say that Jackson was a disappointment.

I get what you are saying... some will take the bust word the wrong way... I do think you want your 3rd round pick on your list... Dude was gone before his rookie contract ended... So when i say bust.. I'm not saying like he was a 1st round bust... im saying bust as a wasted pick.

Yea i need to see this link... I mean... In 08... When lawyer Milloy was injured and getting burnt in that Cards game... They didnt bench him in put in Decoud... Didnt mean they gave up on Decoud...

The Staff may didnt want to put him in that position and may not feel that he was ready for that.

I also am not giving up on Owens... Coach Smith said the guy was playing hurt ... No excuse for getting burnt but it does shed some light on it... The 2 bad games does not make me forget the 09 season... Owens definitely has to come back strong this year because his NB spot is def up for grabs.

I will say this tho... Them telling Brian Williams they will not resign him says something.. Rather they draft a guy to compete with Franks and Owens or let Owens and Franks battle it out... They feel comfortable their to not atleast bring Williams back for TC

There is a difference between benching Lawyer Milloy ( a veteran ) for a rookie
Then benching Owens a young player for another young player In which what would have happen in the case of Owens and Franks but our coaching staff felt Owens was more prepared for game

Also them not resigning Brian Williams doesnt say much especially him coming off a injury ..and older . You can find a nickel corner on free agency market for cheap/young and proven ..

I liked Franks ..I remember the int vs Cards he played the 2 deep zone and floated Fitz up sideline and made a nice grab . I could have sworn ive read on AFMB it was late in season that Falcons were not happy with development of Franks , I dont want to start that rumor or not ..maybe it was a SPORTSFREAK reply or something ..ill try and find it dont want to start that rumor cause I actually thought Franks was our best draft pick from last year

More of this bullshit?

Did the Giants give up on Osi Umenyiora when they drafted Justin Tuck? Have they given up on Justin Tuck because they drafted Jason Pierre-Paul?

Let this idea rattle around through that empty head of yours. We rotate linemen constantly, and there is not a law that states you can only have 2 pass rushing DEs.

Almost as dumb as your assertion that late round picks who don't become starters are busts, and it means TD can't scout the position.

RE: Do you think we should draft a DB early ? and do you trust TD and his scouting of one
TD never drafts a CB early. He has only drafted one in the second round since 2003. Here's a breakdown:

2003 Eugene Wilson 2nd round 9 ints between 03-05
2003 Asante Samuel 4th round 16 ints between 03-06
2004 Christian Morton 7th round
2005 Ellis Hobbs 3rd round 9 ints 05-08
2006 Willie Andrews 7th round
2007 Mike Richardson 6th round

He joined Atlanta in 2008 and we know the draft history here.
TD knows you can find value at CB later in the draft, and sometimes they bust, but he never ties up to much money either way.

do I have to take you to school again Radical..its getting beyond silly

Giants won a superbowl on the back of there pass rushers..Osi/Strahan/Tuck...Tuck was also playing 3 positions on that DLINE ( If you followed around the NFL you would know that)

Giants drafted Tuck knowing Strahan is on his last leg and retirement coming soon. They would slide Osi to Strahan rush end and have Tuck at the other end

Now they see Osi coming off injuries and soon to be free agency they went ahead and drafted Jason Paul... so the future of Giants oline will be Paul and TuckSmile
