Not that I started this thread to get on this deep philosphical discussion on gays in team sports, but it is crazy how afraid athletes in team sports are to come out. I think in the entire world in team sports, there is only one admitted homosexual, a rugby player in England, who happens to be one of the top players as well.

Kind of wild, you know there are a couple of guys probably on every professional sports team.

I know what you mean. I got a letter from Ovie's lawyer to remove a link to that specific article that came out.
I thought it was funny that I received a ceise and desist (sp) letter from one of the players I enjoy watching the most.

Honestly, i think it's a competitive advantage, there is such widespread homophobia in the NFL, that coming out will give you an edge on gameday. If I were Ovie, I'd play it up whether it was true or not. Make kissing noises and bat your eyes at opposing linemen. A little flirt and he could turn the Steel Curtain into a turnstile.

Think how much more feared Ray Lewis would be if he was wearing make up and Daisy Dukes when he is closing in on a RB. Think of the possibilities! You would totally own the psychological advantage and create a more tolerant NFL at the same time.
