RE: Did We Sign RB Gartrell Johnson?
Smith is getting his shot. Johnson was brought in to compete with Smith. Not to immediately take his spot on the depth chart.

RE: Our new RB
He looks good. He has the ability to break tackles, make huge cuts and has a burst of speed to put him in to the secondary. We'll see what he actually brings to the table.

RE: Our new RB
Anybody know what Snelling and Turners 40 times were?

Would make for an interesting comparison

Sorry guys. Rather than delete the threads I combined the three talking about the new running backs and who was signed/cut etc.

Smith.... I don't like his size.... just to say it... I never liked Dunn either.

Snelling has a ton more finess, can run the screen or halfback routes & catch. I don't think Snelling is a between the tackles back. And we need that 4.3 open field runner that can beat the LB's around the ends & turn the afterburners on.

I don't like either of these guys. Smith deserves his shot IMO. And he knows the playbook.

Edit: I should rephrase that... I think Snelling would do fine as a between the tackles back, but I don't think that would be proper use of him. A RB his size that can catch the ball & run through DB tackles in the second layer is dangerous & a lot more bang for the buck. I wouldn't chance sending him up the gut 25 times a game though. You're missing out on what he can do best.

Here's what I found, several different sites confirmed and said the same thing,

40 times @ The Combine:
Jason Snelling - 4.74
Michael Turner - 4.51

Snelling is pure in between the tackles kinda guy, especially with the way he can pick up yards after contact. He's just a very good player catching the ball and turning up field.
