Spagnuolo was trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Payton pointed out in his first interview that the defensive players need to be used to their strengths and a few hours later Spags was history. The current front seven better fit a 3-4 and the secondary will no doubt return to the man coverage with Malcolm Jenkins playing center field and Roman Harper back up closer to the line where his strength lies.

I am expecting a marked improvement on scheme alone and with the right coach it could be dramatic. But, all it has to be is average for the Saints to be back to being one of the best teams in the league again.
