Junior Gallette and Martez Wilson would make perfect fits as OLB's in a 3-4. Broderick Bunkley would fit at NT and Cameron Jordan played DE in a 3-4 in college. Add FA or two and a draft pick and they would be ready to roll.

Two more possibilities are Romeo Crennel and Eric Mangini. Both have experience with the 3-4 and I have a feeling Mangini would love to work with Payton.

DE - Akiem Hicks
NT - Broderick Bunkley
DE - Cameron Jordan

OLB - Junior Gallette
ILB - Curtis Lofton
ILB - David Hawthorn
OLB - Martez Wilson

Cut loose both Vilma and Will Smith and save around $14 million against the cap.

I am excited about the possibilities. Last season was a hard headed coach trying to for square pegs into round holes. The Saints have the perfect piece to run a 3-4 and only need depth.

Cameron Jordan isn't a 3-4 DE

Sorry, but you don't know what you are talking about. Jordan played in both the 4-3 and the 3-4 at Cal and was projected as a better 3-4 DE prospect.

Cal DL Cameron Jordan has a lot to offer 3-4 defenses

Cameron Jordan Goes Marching To The Saints

"Still, of all the places to fall to, the New Orleans Saints isn't too cold a spot.

Jordan will be moving into a 4-3 defensive scheme, and this might turn out to be an ok place for him. Although Jordan has played in a 3-4 for the past three years and might be better familiarized with this scheme, he might be better off in playing in a more distributed defensive line where he isn't forced to take on double-teams constantly."

sure glad we went with Nolan instead of Spags, so what's the take, who are they looking at as replacements?

Wow wonder if we could pick Spags on the cheap for a defensive line coach..lol JK Tongue

Kind of proved one thing about him, his perssonel did it, he had the best D-line in football, but that's how he won the super bowl with the giants, hes just a average. coach. See the saints. Tongue

I'd imagine he is going to have to put on some more muscle/weight if he wants to nail down that spot in the pros.

Its funny you say this because I recall a thread where an anonymous player talked against Spags and you pushed it to the side and backed Spags as if he was going to turn things around next year.

You have to stand by your man until he is shown the curb. Big Grin

But, honestly, I am very excited.
