Cool Breakdown of Elite QB

Over on the AFMB - someone started a thread about whether Ryan could be an elite QB. Someone posted this - and I thought it was cool - so I'm posting it here for you guys!


Here is my fool-proof formula for determining an elite QB

1) Go to NFL.com stats page
2) Pull up the passing stats
3) sort by completion percentage
4) Take the top 10

Brees
Brady
Garrard
Rivers
E. Manning
P. Manning
Kitna
Rodgers
Ryan

5) Remove QBs with less than 300 pass attempts

Brees
Brady
Rivers
E. Manning
P. Manning
Rodgers
Ryan

6) Remove the QB with the most ints

Brees
Brady
Rivers
P. Manning
Rodgers
Ryan

7) Remove the QB with the worst rating

Brees
Brady
Rivers
Rodgers
Ryan

8) Remove the QB with the worst win\loss record

Brees
Brady
Rodgers
Ryan

9) Remove the QB with the worst TD/Int ratio

Brady
Rodgers
Ryan

10) Remove the QB with the least passing yards

Rodgers
Ryan

11) Remove the QB with the least number of completions

Ryan

Perhaps a quicker way would be:

1) Go to NFL.com stats page
2) Pull up the passing stats
3) sort by completion percentage
4) Take the top 10
5) Remove QBs not ending in "att Ryan".

Here's a comparison I just did on Brees and Ryan for another thread...

Drew Brees: 21-21 his first three full seasons... only one appearance his rookie year... 14-10 at Home

DrewBrees: 29 -13 as of week 11 his last three seasons... 15 -6 at Home

Matt Ryan: 29-12 as of week 11 3rd season.... 19-1 at Home (fewer games played!)
